You need to notch the inside of a d-series block to clear H-beam rods as the crank rotates but the russians on HMT just notched the rods instead.

This guy ^^ need to learn about D-series and the guy from the pic need to know some basic ---- about deformation of bodies. This kind of thing is very intuitive. No need to have a degre to know that.
