Radiator Shops, How extensive of modifications?

Well my car is just about done, one thing that didn't pan out as i would have liked, i have a aluminum dual core radiator in the crx.
Can a radiator shop cut 2 inches off of the drivers side of it and 2 inches off the top then reweld it? How much would something like that cost?

you might be able to get away with cutting down the width but not the height. if you look at the rad core, and visualize what youd be cutting off you would understand why it isnt possible.

Ron Davis radiators will custom build one to your specs. All tig welded, nice stuff. Pretty cheap as well. My buddy got one for his SR20DET swapped 510 ratsun.

I don't understand why they can't cut the top down. Yea it is a EG all aluminum radiator.

get a nice crosssmember and a little lean to fit that. way better to spend $$ on a decent crossmember than a radiator

Am rocking a jk motorsports cross member rite now with the 2nd gen heim's and lca connectors. It still sits two inches high and needs about 2 inches cut off driver's side.

Well the mouts are on the center of the traction bar on top, if i had them lower, they would have to be on the side of the bars, farther towards the transmission.

Height wise it will fit, i just wanted it shorter to tuck it under the front t bar. But it does need a few inches off of the drivers side.

How much would that cost? Ball park?

Re: Radiator Shops, How extensive of modifications?

depends on the shop, try to find a shop that does plenty of aluminum work. im sure if you cut it and have as much of the fitting done it shouldnt be more than a hour of welding
