Racing Seats...?
Anyone know a place I can lok at some reviews of them? Or have an opinion to share on which ones are good? So far I have looked at Recaro, Sparco, and Bomz...

Re: Racing Seats...?
The only good racing seat IMO is a fixed position seat. Recliners weigh to much and really are mostly for looks.
I have 1 Sparco Speed and I love it, fits me like a glove! |
Re: Racing Seats...?
I'd say there are 3 catagories of seats. Fixed racing, reclinable quality, and chinese junk. The chinese junk (bomz, apc, ebay ----) aren't even worth buying. Reclinable quality (sparco, bride, corbeau, ect) are good for street cars. Although I have a fixed seat (ultra-sheild) I don't think it's great for a daily driver unless you love feeling like a top fuel driver to go to taco bell.

Re: Racing Seats...?
I have one fixed bucket made out of fiber glass(German FK tuning really good) thats after I had a set of tenzo R icer recliner seats that broke after my clutch harsh engagement, the backrest did not stay up anymore, I trash them, so its either fix buckets, or factory seats for me.

Re: Racing Seats...?
trust me on this none of you guys should eVaR buy any chinese racing seats.(bomz tenzeoR/ ebay and such)
The entire seat is not solid enough to take any abuses and the back support will loosen/bent over time. imgaine what would happen when you crash :X Buy EXPENSIVE seats for your own safty (spearco/bride and such) |

Re: Racing Seats...?
I have a set of Corbeau Forza II's and they are a great decent priced fixed position seat. Fit perfectly in an EF as well.

Re: Racing Seats...?
I'd say instead of just reading reviews. Go and actually sit in different seats. I have each(reclinable and a fixed)I like my Bride Brix in my corolla since it's my daily driver and in my 280Z that has a S&W roll bar and stripped interior I have my Buddy Club and 5pt harness. The Buddy Club was designed for the asian body as in thin and as tall as a chopstick. I'm only 5'5" so it fits me good. But go to someplace that actually sells seats or find someone with a seat your interested in and actually sit in it. It's like buying a pair of shoes off the internet. Yeah you may wear a size so and so but different brands fit differently of the same size. Know what I mean?

Re: Racing Seats...?
Ya, You have to know what holds ya, Normally a Recliner does ot hold you as well. I have not ever sat in one I like!
My Fixed is real tight, most people can't even fit in it, but I'm a skinny little bitch at about 6'5" tall and 155lbs |
Re: Racing Seats...?
humm...
Well, right now I have a recaro reclinable in the pass side, corbeau bucket in the driver side. I did have Recaros on both sides. Im about to ditch the other recaro and put a bride brix II in there. Between the bride and MY recaros that I have, I would choose the bride brix seat anyday. But if this makes any sense, my buddy with the DC5R is about to go get a pair of Mugen S1-R seats and ditch his OEM Recaros. Im going to take those recaros off of his hands...so I will be back to recaros shortly. Unless I come across a bride zeta seat. :P |
Re: Racing Seats...?
Thanks for all the input guys. I'll have to go to the local motor sports shop and check some of these out. 8)
