Default Question? Job Decision

Situation
The company I moved for, purchased a house, a new car, etc etc has turn to ----. They made my boss quit, they fired the other Draftperson, Now they have a new surveyor/manager, and just me. They did not help me with any relocation compensation, pissed me off, they did not give me a raise as promised, just a dollar because of my year anniversary a few months back, and the office just sucks.

I have been going to interviews lately, expecting this office to be closed, but the main office keeps saying they won't close it, and got an offer for a better position, more pay, bigger company, etc. What to do, be loyal? jump ship?

OLD COMPANY
Pros:
Not much right now, just that it's only 15 minutes from my house, short drive
I can come in an out pretty much how I want as long as I get the stuff done in time.

Cons:
The BIG one is that this company uses a software (Terramodel 10.41) for their drawings that has been terminated by the company, no one uses it, in my industry, and I am falling behind the industry standard which is AutoCAD, or more specifically, Land Desktop 2007. This will affect my career later on.
A lot of Bullshit, owners fighting, managers stepping on each other, too much Drama
My Boss/manager, we had a good team and relationship, he's cool, will leave by the end of the week.
I have too much work, stress, being the only guy here.
I can make more money doing the same thing.
$18 hr
$27 hr overtime

NEW COMPANY
Pros:
Bigger established company.
Better benefits. Full medical paid, 401k, etc.
I would be coming into a Senior Technician position.
Better equipment
They use the LATEST AutoCAD packages, currently Land Desktop 2007.
$20.63 hr
$30.95 Overtime
Cons:
Longer drive, about 35 minutes
Less vacation time first year, evens out after.

I would be making an average of 7,000 more a year, counting the overtime.
My inclination is to tell this company to suck it, and move for better pay and a better situation to advance.

Oh well, I guess I have to make a decision by thursday.

I still have not presented the situation to the current company, I'm sure they will try to keep me, offer more money. But there's still that software issue.

This isnt's rocket science big man, your second option sounds like candy to me, yah the driv time might suck, but everyone likes to drive, tunes and coffee make any tour good. Better money, brighter future, loyalty is great but when the ---- finally hits the fan where you are do you really belive they will give a ---- about you? Most companies never do, so take all you can get when you can get it. Make the move ......

In my opinion, going with the one that is more of an industry standard would be a better choice. If the old company uses out dated ---- then your work WILL suffer later down the road. I did a stint with an architectural company doing simple PC bulshit for about 4 months while looking for another Admin position. Once I finaly sat back down in front of server 2003 and looked at AD, I had to refresh on a lot of ----. I was amazed.

2BG4HNDA has a point, being loyal is worthless if your employer doesn't appricate it.

besides, more money is always a perk.

Yeah, that's what I think, I just need to know I'm not the only one that thinks that way. The normal and probably the right choice is to take it.

Jebus....no wonder we cant hire any draftsmen, you guys make too damn much money

Seriously though take the job you will be happiest at, screw pay, if you aint happy doing what you do, you won't succeed. 35 minutes isnt that much longer of a commute, I grew up in the sticks and used to regularly travel 1 hour plus for work. Your job now sounds like it is falling apart, ditch the sinking ship before it goes down.

At least (if the job market is there what it is here) the job market is a plus for you right now. My office is hiring newbs right out of school because we just cant find anyone to hire.

That's just how it is here also, but 80% of those newbs can't really draft or are used for simple cabinet making or just copying old drawings jobs. Trained an capable people are really hard to find.
I am good, hahaha, so people want me, that's why I get paid what I get paid.

I'm a surveyor that cannot sign drawings, I do everything but put the ink down, make the decisions take care of the field crews etc etc. Other people don't know jack and have to constantly go to the surveyors or engineers for help. I go to them for their signature only.
