As mentiond before, I am registered for wyo tech in Oct '05.
Im suspossed to get out of the Marine Corps May 12th....live/start a new life...blah blah blah...

My wife mentioned last night extending my contract and going to Japan.

If I go, I will only extend my military contract if I can get my contract exactly the way I want to, with the job i want. Military Police/Dog Handler. If I can...this is what im questioning...

...going to Japan would set me back from having kids, buying a house, buying a new car, going to school...everything I really really want to do in the next few years. Going to japan would pretty much force me to leave my family for 3 years. :-\ (the #1 reason im decinding to get out of the MC in the first place)

... the up sides to japan.
1. the money is a hell of alot better
2. my wife and i would be able to travel the other side of the world
3. we would be 99% debt free comming back
4. my wife would be able to finish her degree
5. my wife and i would be able to buy all new furnature, something we NEED right now...

and of coarse the one everyones wanting to hear...since im married over there, and im a NCO, i can have a car. hell yes, and i would be able to roam the junkyard of japan. 8)

What would you do. the odds pretty much equal each other out. :-\

Also, i would bypass going back to iraq. hopefully :-\
(as of right now, no round 2 for me in iraq)

You should try and get orders to mainland Japan instead of Okinawa...
Don't get me wrong Oki is nice but why have an apetizer if you can have a whole meal?

think about what will be best for the future, not tomorrow, but like a couple years. what's best for tomorrow isn't always best for next year ;) if you stay in and get stationed there, you will come back to the states even more ready to carry out your plans than you will be in may. before you buy a house and have a kid, you want to have quite a bit of money saved up and completely debt free, trust me ;)

I'd say go to Japan and come back with a clean slate and no money worries. Plus living in Japan would be nice and having the wife there would top it off. If I was in your spot I'd extend the contract only if you get what you want otherwise I'd tell Uncle Sam you got you time from now I want this but if you can't do that then sianora!

hey this shold help you get a better idea of how far Oki and manland are....and why the climates are so different at times.... Kinda puts things into perspective ...
I got my engine outta a junkyard for 500 bucks...engine, lsd-tranny, ecu, gauge clutser..... and the're all over the place now imagine mainland Japan junkyards....

I use to live in japan and okinawa is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been. Sounds like you have your goals set in life but do your really want to get there the hard way or the easy way? Going to Japan is going to get you out of debt, you'll get paid well, and you can see it as a last adventure for you and your wife to have before you two start a family together. After your life set on track with no worries you can then now have money to buy a house, without being in debt, and to buy furniture and more for you family to enjoy for the future. It takes time to get were you want. So i say go to japan :)

I say go man, you may never have another experience like that. And you can have kids later, but once you do, it'll never be just you and the Lady again, those are good times too, having kids can be sweet (mini-stealth for example, is cool), but it does change everything... Plus you can get us parts on the weekends.. ;)

i think i should be able to go over around march or so...

now its up to the Marine Corps to give me what i want, which 99% of the time it doesnt work that way. :-\

I was talking to alot of people last night about it...
they said because of some of the laws...people just throw ---- away...i cant wait to go to the junkyard.

-I am being 100% serious when I tell you I have not heard one ------- thing about a draft. ::)

something ALOT of people dont know...the Navy is DOWNSIZING by about 65,000 sailors right now. Yes, you might say, that is the navy, they arent needed in the desert, but if the military is soooo needing troops, why are they letting go perfectly good sailors?

Yeah the airforce is also downsizing thats why ive been waited for damn near a year to go to bootcamp :-\

exactly, there are people who want to come into the military, and the govt turns them down...why would they instate a draft is beyond me.
