quarter mile time???
 

Hey i was wondering if you guys could give me an estimate on my 1/4 mile time. My car isn't turbo yet so i'm sorry, lol. I ran the quarter and got a 15.9 but i know the car has more balls than this because i've raped low 15 second cars by about a car maybe a little more on the street. anyways, my trap speed was somewhere inbetween 86-87 mph and i had a shitty 2.46 60' time. i know i need to work on my launch but it was my first time at the track and the track is a whole lot different in the pavement area compared to the street. i don't know if you can tell what i would be running by what i posted but if so please help. thx and sorry so long. tia

hell ya man if you get some traction you might hit 10's. :o i know that for sure , with that car and all the upgrades you listed, mang theres not doubt, 10's for sure.

heh i forgot that part. I have a fully rebuilt d16a6 in a 89 crx si. when i took it to the track i had the rear stripped out and was rollin on hx's. i have i/h/e a centerforce dual friction clutch, reprogrammed ecu from hyperduck tuning, and the head was milled .003

does that help?
btw i spun alot of first and a little in second gear

Thats about the best youll get honestly. I used to own an old 91 SI. Totally stripped of EVERYTHING. With fat ass slicks. Full port and polished engine. Exaugst intake headers all the normal stuff i only ran a 15.9 best to with a 87 MPH trap speed. Just cause you beat low 15 cars on the street doesnt mean ----. There probably lieing cause i used to get excited for the same thing. Then reality hit me. Thats as fast as this little engine will ever go.

umm, if you had all that done to your si then i'm sorry to say it but you can't drive! You can't tell me that all i'm possible of getting out of this engine is a 15.9 because i know for a fact when i fix my camber problems and work on my launch i can probably hit a 15.5-.6 if not lower. and i don't need a new engine, this engine is perfectly good, i like the d's over a b anyday anyways. anyways, your post sounded completely stupid to me. sorry

lol, OWNED ;D anyway yes you can do better than 15.9, my friend has a 90 crx si with stock d16a6 with short ram intake, DC header, thermal exhaust, MSD 6A ignition and ran 15.63 on street tires at the track. and D series all the way!!!

Well i think i could get a lot more people to agree. Ive had lotsa expereince with the d16z6. I just know how people over react about there cars. and how they CAN go faster. oh well

You could hit mid 15's but I wouldn't bother trying to go fast NA...it will be a lot of hassle and money and you won't go even as fast as a cheap hmt ;D

My 1991 Civic Si came stock with a D16A6 motor, unless some "special person" put in there that i wasn't aware of, who knows "it could happen".
Anyways my friend threw this motor in his 97 HX coupe and ran a 15.9 he had the head milled .003, port and polished head, header, full exhaust 2 1/2" no cat, SCI MSD, 9.5mm wires, aem adjustable cam gear, B & M fuel pressure regulator, forced induction cold air intake(ran the intake to where the head light went so forced induction almost :D ok maybe not), tokico coilovers, sturt tower bar, street tires, weight reduction. The track was 150 degrees that day and he couldn't seem to get traction, too bad we didn't have slicks and the ------ track wasn't so hot i think he could of had approx. 15.5.

I had a friend with 91 CRX Si, D16A6 I/H/E and mild Web cam, he was as fast as my 89 HF w/ LS @ 5 psi. I figure low 14's.

He blew a headgasket in the car by overheating it, swapped the cam and such over to two different D16A6, but it was never the same again, the other engines felt weak.

It really does depend on engine particulars, tuning, and driver. High or mid 14's aren't anything amazing out of a mostly stock NA D16A6 if everything comes together really well. Your horrible 60' times really kill off your ET, as the only place you have enough torque to really pull hard is down low. Work on the launch and it'll be a happy thing.

Oh, yeah, bolt on a turbo. :>

No dyno numbers yet, but 13psi @ 3600rpms speaks for its self... WRX TURBO RULES !!! Too bad the SVO 60-trim is already lined up..

it's cool red_si everyone expects you to run 11's and 12's daily because lots of people seem to have a lot of money to spend on their cars and can do motor swaps and turbos and upgrade the turbos every month or so, which i don't have a problem at all with but, too many people get ---- for not running as quick as other people on this forum. Not everyone has the money to do some easy stuff such as swaps and turbos, me and my friend were proud when we took a stock 18-19 second four cyclinder honda civc hx coupe and made it run a 15.9, i agree with red_si "piss off" random strike.

i dunno man i would consider a 15.9 (16 flat) 1/4th to be embarssesing. especially if you consider your car "modded". i could see doing it a couple times to see what it does before you really start to play. im not dissin yah man but saying my camber was off so i ran a 15.9 is retarded. if you bought all those mods (i/h/e) retail thats about as much as my turbo kit cost me.

header ~$300+
exhaust ~$200+ unless its a weld on muffler...

15.1+ ecnobox
14.1-15.0 quick
13.1-14.0 fast
11.1-13.0 damn fast

i get what your saying but that wasn't my only problem and i wasn't blaming it specifically on that. i KNOW for a fact i need help on my launching. i've been practicing and with some better tires maybe some dr's i think i can hit a 15.4 because my launching last time i went was ----. and it was my first time on a track so maybe that could play a factor. also i didn't pay those prices for my parts, i always buy used. lol
