put vtec motor in crx
hey i got the motor in, a D16Z6 and i only had three injectors, so i out a GSR injector(ghetto but didnt have anything else), but now the car cant idle right, it just stumbles and turns off. Is it cuz of that injector or what> any opinions-thanks

Re:put vtec motor in crx
Definelty could be the injector. Your injecotrs are a dime a dozen, try getting one that matches the rest and see how it works. Do you get a Cel at all when the car is on or starting?
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
dude, nice gd post. ;) try getting a peak n hold injector.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
what is a CEL and what is peak n holder? Question could i use the injectors from a D16A6?
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
CEL is an abriviation for Check Engine Light, and yes D16A6 injectors are pick and hold, and thouse are the ones you want to use, or any other OBD0 civic/integra injectors.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
or you can pull the resistor box off, sell it on ebay for $75 or however much (chrome it first to get more money) and then get some saturated injectors.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
Yeah, you cant run obd1 injectors, from teh d16z6, on a stock 0bd0 harness, without removing and soldering the resistor box togther, the wires coming from it need to be soldered together. Or just keep it the way it is and put the a6 injectors in.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
thanks a bunch guys im gonna try it tomm morning, im gonna put the A6 injectors to see what happens-peace homies :)

Re:put vtec motor in crx
Judgine by the information given, the problem here lies much deeper then the injector mumbo jumbo
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
the problem is located between his ears.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
Slow civic you need to send me more pics of that ass in your avatar. I just can't resist.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
thats it i stole that one, but have more then enough other pics to make up for it ;D

Re:put vtec motor in crx
oh one more thing, should i use the A6 fuel rail also or just keep the Z6 fuel rail.
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
The Z6 should work
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
use your crx injectors. the ones for the z6 or y8 wont work right, your car will sputter and idle like ----. i had them on my car for a while after my crx ones went bad. also, use the z6 or y8 (civic ex)fuel rail + fuel pressure regulator because the fuel rail flows a little better and the fpr has a little bit higher fuel pressure. if you dont do this you will probably get a code 1 cel(check engine light) when you hit vtec. it will take a little modification though. the ex fuel rail has two holes, but they dont fit the crx si manifold. what you need to do is measure the exact distance between the studs that hold your crx si fuel rail and drill three holes into the ex one.
by the way, locate your ecu in the passenger footwell under the carpet and count the number of blinks so you can tell us what code you are getting. im guessing code 16. if you cant figure that out, then you need to do a google search on how to pull crx check engine light codes. |
Re:put vtec motor in crx
He doesn't have a P28 ECU, he's using a sotck Da6A6 ecu...so no VTEC for him...unless he's using a VAFC or a switch
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
alright i put the A6 injectors and it still running funny :'(, its still saying Check engine and i checked the ecu and it first blinks 14 times, then it stops and it resumes an additional 5 times. it does this over and over. What does that mean? Where do i search this?

check this out

Re:put vtec motor in crx
there are long blinks and short blinks
count the blinks in order as they come and tell us |
Re:put vtec motor in crx
its probly one of these 2
05 Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor.. Reading too low or too high, defective MAP sensor 14 Idle Control System Malfunction.. Defective IAC valve, defective fast idle thermo valve, throttle body you said it blinked 14 times then 5 times just look in the link i posted |

Re:put vtec motor in crx
Ok then that rules that out.
91 HF. |
Re:put vtec motor in crx
i dont know how to explain it, but you know that sensor or plug on the back side of the Throttle body, thats like slanted down, it also has these rivet type bolts, well i had to change it because the one it had before(the one that came with the vtec engine) broke off so i put a D16A6 one-could it be that?
Also the map sensor, is that the thing thats on the passenger side, bolted to the firewall? if so im using the Si one. |

where is the Defective IAC valve, defective fast idle thermo valve? where are these things located?
|
Re:put vtec motor in crx
yeah, you can extend the wires and use the map sensor on the tb instead of the old one on the firewall, your iacv (idle air control valve) is located on the back of your manifold, right after the tb, it can also throw a code if you have a vacuum leak, check all your vacuum hoses and tb gasket.

also, there are no long and short blinks on a pm6 ecu. they are all short/fast blinks, then pause, then more short blinks - until a repeating pattern is formed. i believe the long and short blink stuff is for obd1 or 2 ecus. |
