Prosport Gauges

Does anyone have any experiences with these gauges? I saw one for sale in the For Sale section and I was like "Wow, that thing is really sharp!" They black out when off and light up when the car is turned on. From the video and from the install pics on the site they look like they might be a little dim when amber or blue, but white they look fantastic. Just looking to get some thoughts on them.

Want my Defi's? I ------- hate them. Total waste of money.

TorganFM 03-25-2007 11:47 PM

Re: Prosport Gauges

No... that's the point they are a waste of money. They are nice looking, but not worth it. I want something that's black background and doesn't cost my first born, but is also a good gauge.

Graft a scooby cluster into your car haha.

I bought the defi's because people told me they were wicked accurate... They are reading live on the display but the needle on my oilpressure acts like it has terrets. The my tach ---- the bed, etc.

TorganFM 03-25-2007 11:54 PM

Re: Prosport Gauges

Dude I might have to ------- do that. What gauges are in a subie cluster? I need the works... egt, temps, pressures, etc.

SkunT 03-25-2007 11:59 PM

Re: Prosport Gauges

there was a recall on defis awhile ago.
id love to buy them from you. honestly.
They are very very accurate.

In my pa's legacy its only the gay 3 with 1 cool. Tach(cool), speedo, fuel, water temp. I can't remember the STI though. The opening movie is just like the defi's. Looks ------- killer at night.

Well ----, I'm gonna call them up and figure this out. I get lots of compliments on them and tons of "aww skeet skeet check the defi's out" but I have not had enough good luck with them to justify saying "yea mang, they're tight ---- yo"

SkunT 03-26-2007 12:05 AM

Re: Prosport Gauges

How long have you had them? There was a huge recall about a year or so ago...very possible you got part of that stock.

if anoyne is ignorant enough to tell you that auto meters are ----, they are very unedcuated. Autometer has been around for a long long time...and hasn't really changed there product much. Must say something about the company. ;)

Re: Prosport Gauges

autometers work but in no way are they very accurate.

TorganFM 03-26-2007 12:43 AM

Re: Prosport Gauges

So then what's good, accurate, not hideous, and reasonably priced?

When we first started carrying Autometer, we sent a couple back that had the needles off by a bit. Our distributor told us that they had a shelf full of them that way. Kinda disappointing if you ask me. I certainly am not going to ship out a gauge to my customers if it's indicating 4lbs of boost while it's still in the f'n box.

And, no, I don't know of any line of gauges that can compete with Autometer on price or quality. We don't carry the liquid filled Autometers, so it may be that they are a little better quality, but I can't say fopr sure.

Equiss gauges seam to work good for the money.Stewart Warner is another cheaper gauge.Autometer boost gauges are def not accurate there is a write up floating around on zeroing them out.

WTF 03-26-2007 08:03 AM

Re: Prosport Gauges

every autometer ive had was off, you can re calibrate them but they look junky when your done peeling the ring open and mashing it back on, but they look fine from the front.

checker auto has these gauges for like $25 for a new boost gauge there good enough eqous or somthin. probly easier to read i had one but returned it when i got a nice autometer for 25. shoulda kept the eqous http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...goryCode=3342L

i seen some blox gauges that looked ok, like 40somthin for a boost/vac

Smith-02 03-26-2007 08:17 AM

Re: Prosport Gauges

equis is carried by walmart, but they are a very sharp faced gauge. green glo background, easy to read white oh black, orange sweep.

at first startup the oil will be jittery for like 15-20 secs, but after that, it's rock solid. is very accurate, and mine came with copper line (6ft) for $8 at walmart.

and i love the twist sleeve that locks the gauge to the base or whatever its going into.

beats the ---- out of u brackets and nuts that youy drop into your dash

TorganFM 03-26-2007 08:20 AM

Re: Prosport Gauges

I'll check em out, but the last time I checked my Walmart there weren't gauges or things I would ever think of putting in a car (like leopard print seat covers :-X).

Re: Prosport Gauges

i use VDO. they're pretty reasonable
i think i paid $60 shipped for a boost and oil pres. gauge. neither came with plumbing though.

Re: Prosport Gauges

anyone know where that writeup on recalibrating the autometer gauges is? I tried googling with no luck, the one that looked hopeful was a dead link. My needle always in a weird spot when the car was off but i thought that was normal until my roommate borrowed mine and it was reading like 4 or 5 psi lower than it really was :S :S I blame that and raping on a basemap on my b18b's early demise. I thought running 10 on my basemap was mildly retarded, turns out I was running 15 :1 But anyway, i still have the same gauge. help me.

Ya know... Its wierd... You hear everybody bashing everything... Ive never had a problem with 1 Autometer gauge in the 21 years ive chose them. Not 1. Im not saying that ---- doesnt happen, but 700 dollars for 3 gauges or whatever... ----, id rather run the ebay rice gauges and go to the strip club...

My needle on my autometer sits at -10hg when the car is off. It gets right around zero when at full boost and i've only had it for nine months. Autometers suck. >:(
Has anyone every recalibrated one?

WTF 03-26-2007 11:29 PM

Re: Prosport Gauges

i did, i dont remember exactly but i think if you open it up its pretty self explainitory, mess around in it while you look at the gauge
