Don't forget that it costs money to actually buy a postal money order.

Granted, for the US, it's 95 cents. (We get totally raped on that in Canada)

but let's take a look at the numbers here.

right off the bat, there's an extra $9 that's a dead weight loss. USPS taxed that ---- from you.

Now if you're the first guy on the list, great. Toss that ---- into a high yeild investment, and if you're lucky, you're make a little bit of money as you bleed off that acct to pay for the money orders going out over the course of the next 9 weeks. But since it's such a short timeframe, you're more likely to barely break or take a slight loss if you play it safe and don't blow it all on the stock market.

Now the last guy on the list gets screwed. Not only does he still has to take on the risk of not being able to break even like the first guy did, he doesn't have that $1000 to try and make his $1 a week from it. Guy has to pay out from his own pocket up front.

This plan doesn't even have potential benefit for anyone but the first couple people who get thier names drawn. You're better off just dumping $100 a week into a high interest savings acct. Or as many here are doing, into a jar.

its like.. ----.. say theres something 10 people want.. and it costs a thousand bucks.. they could either wait out the 10 weeks to save up to buy theyre ----.. or if they can spare 100 a week. put it in a pool.. and every week its one persons turn to cash in.. and they still have to deposit 100 a week.. but now.. by the end of the 10 weeks.. they would have there whatever the ---- they wanted to buy.. and 9 of the 10 people got there ---- earlier than 10 weeks..

it only works if everyone involved is honest.. and goes through with the payments..

why would you care about a 9 dollar loss if your going to get 1000 bucks before 10 weeks?
