project: refinshing/painting CRX Si wheels

I recently got a set of 90-91 CRX SI wheels($80 w/ 3 new tires), but they are in horrible shape. But not for long. everything will be done by hand and on the cheap. going flat black with a silver lip(maybe polished if i have the patience)
the paint is so thick most of the curbage never made it to the metal so that makes life much easier.

i am using a dremel for in between the spokes. the sponges are great, one is 150/100 and the other is 200/150. makes quick work on the lips.

this is how i got them

one wheel was halfway/half-assed prepped when i got it, you can really see teh layers of paint under there

a close up of the carnage i must undo. there has got to be 3-4 layers of maint on top of the factory coating. you can tell by the bubble no prep work was done when originally painted. (i know the pic is huge, so you can actually see teh damage)

these will be black with silver emblems

lots of work and pics ahead. i'm almost done prepping one, had to stop for some grub.

for everyday use 195's will be just fine, i'll run wider tires on my 15x6 for teh track so the width doesnt bather me. also i will be using tires the are ~1.5 smaller overall so i will have a bit shorter gears. i'll cut 20mph off my top speed and be sifhter early enough to keep me in the best part of my powerband

Those wheels were classic back in the day. Good deal.
