Project MR2 Turbo upgrade
Well I finally got to install a few parts I picked up over the winter for my MR2. I got a new upgraded CT-26 with a 60trim wheel, downpipe, G-Force ECU, manual boost controller, and cap & wires. It was a bitch to work on as it's pretty tight in the engine bay. The pics aren't that great but here you go.
As you can see, it's tight! http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_37_full.jpg Heat sheild and charge pipes removed. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_38_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_39_full.jpg The new turbo http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_41_full.jpg Old and new turbo, just a bit larger. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_40_full.jpg Couple pics of the downpipe beside the factory one with the cat. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_43_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_44_full.jpg I removed the turbo from the manifold as one of the nuts on the head to the manifold was being a bitch and I didn't have a torch and I didn't want to take the chance of breaking it. Doing it this way caused me to say ---- a lot more compared to removing the manifold with the turbo attached. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_45_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_46_full.jpg The new turbo installed http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_49_full.jpg Downpipe installed with o2 sensor http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_48_full.jpg Engine bay pics. As you can see I polished up the charge pipes and valve cover for a little bling bling. The wires are OEM and the larger red hose came on my "Two's R Us" manual boost controller http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_47_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...42_50_full.jpg I'm really impressed with the car! I'm running about 16.5 psi of boost and it pulls awsome. I estimate HP around 240 or 250 at the wheels, hope to get it on the dyno soon but I need a new clutch first as she's slipping a bit. A Spec Stage 2 kit is on it's way. Hope you guys enjoy the pics, I'll try to answer any questions you have. |

Re:Project MR2 Turbo upgrade
Thanks Whitey, I'm using the stock CT-26 wastegate. It's not on it in that pic cause I removed it to polish the compressor housing.
Spensor, it's a 91. |
