Project HMT V8 Failure (well... for now)

Ahh yes.. My buddy Ted (cadracer) has been working on his V8 Single turbo setup for a little while now.

The turbo.. yes its a monster. Beau knew this guy who ran a Diesal scrap yard or something, and me and him went out there along time ago & I found this freaking monster turbo on a Dumptruck. I'd never seen such a fatty snail.

Big T4 Flange

Upside Down Block Hugger Headers (ebay style)

Going with the Mexican Gold Paint Job, Ted slapped together a Trailer Park 283 SBC w/ a solid roller .525 lift 302 duration Cam

Shot of the collector.. Not very sexy.. but it came out pretty decent! The bracket is a Chrysler Special tool all chopped up. Had to get something beefy to support this turbo.

Another shot..

I used Stealthmodes old school ls/vtec oil line kit fittings, and oil feed fittings. heh

The manifold mock up

The manifold all welded up with 2.5 JC whitney ubends and a coat hanger!

Heres the Coat Hanger Master himself!

Tial 35mm Wastegate on the T4 housing

Ted has some more pics, we did a trial run last night with no Wastegate. The turbo would only spool to 3psi. The engine is really way to small for this huge ass turbo, So now were just going to weld a T3 flange onto the manifold and try and find a cheap t3/t4 to use.

To Be continued.... ;D

Just curious, what made you decide to mount the WG on the actual turbo? That's crazy. I've never seen that done before. It seems like it would work better that way though.

Should be cool with the right sized turbo. That's quite the beast. :o

I have a KKK in my shed...it has an external wastegate type...cast into the turbine casting...weird.

Are you running both exhaust manifolds into the turbo or just one side? I mean if you're running on one side... think about it its like trying to spool off of a 4 cylinder. (Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention).
