when you have money, you just want to spend it. probly best thing you can do is give it to your mom/sister/bother/friend anyone you can trust to hold onto it. give them like 50 or so a week. then tell them to not give it to me for x amount of time. ---- will add up quick!

Or if you are a responsible adult that understands that someday you will not want to work and will have a want to retire or take over a hobby as full time, then you will take into account that savings is key. I wasnt persuaded by anyone other then myself to start a retirement fund on my 18th birthday, and no this doesnt mean my parents pay for my expenses and allow for this to happen. I still work 40 hours a week during summer(30 during school) to pay off my 02 civic coupe, pay full insurance, clothing, food and other expenses. Managing money is one of the best life skills you can.

from the way you make it sound you still live at your parents... now add rent, electricity, water, gas, loans from school, and see what you got to say about it. ive only got like $400 in my savings been on my own since 17, times get tough and you when dont have no where to go for the needed help you kinda get stuck between a rock and a hard place. don't get me wrong i make pretty decent money and my fiancee does too. but when you are 100% on your own like 35% of us on here are (and the 10% of us in cali getting ass fucked on everything) its a struggle to do anything especially save money.

Yeah, rent/utilities cost me around $1150 a month. If I didn't have to pay that I would be able to save that much more. This is the first year I have actually had a savings account with money in it. :l

Yeah, that ---- all adds up...mortgage, car payment, insurance, home insurance, property taxes, school taxes, local taxes, elec./gas/sewer/garbage/dish tv and internet, groceries, gas money to get and forth to work, student loans, etc. Between myself and my fiancee we dish out well over 2k a month for all that stuff, but isn't too bad considering our combined income is a hair under 6k a month after taxes. Just gotta learn to live by your means and set your priorities.
