Re: Primered cars???
Umm, primer acts like a sponge when it is wet with water, it absorbs it and in the end you get rust spots. the point of paint is to protect the cars exterior shell, not only to look good.
but I guess if you live where it dosnt snow and where they dont use salt, then it shouldnt be too bad. but I'd at least clear coat the primer. |

Re: Primered cars???
ha. some people around here use flat back as a final color. hot rod black they call it. i see it on accords alot. and u can buy spray can clear coat to. it'll help with the rust issue.
bondo is the same way it absorbs water and ends up in rust. thats why u primer over it ;) |

Re: Primered cars???
cool. i went to classes for about 4 years on it. worked in the ford body shop and worked for a custom car shop moldin body kits and paintin cars. base, clear, single stage, graphics. what ever u name :). but u never know u might know more then me. i hated it with a passion thats y i don't so it anymore. plus i did body work on my last car for about 3 years straight before i finally painted it. then 2 days after it got painted someone offered cash for it and i took it. but not as much as was put into it so now. no more body work for me lol

Re: Primered cars???
i think it looks mean sometimes, especially when its open dp or header,u never know what they got!

Re: Primered cars???
Flat black paint, not actually primer, love it, had the body done on my 93 si, ran out of funds for the paint, flat black it is, looks sinister, people ask me when im gonna paint it, teh answer is im not, it gets dirty, dont care, scratched, dont care, i can find a million things better to do with the money required to get it actually painted right....car was free, i spent 400 on body, got free 16' bsa wheels with ectsa's from some parts car my uncle bought, springs from one of teh guys at the honda dealer that my dealer owns, spare d16z6 and tranny from the kid that works for me after his gsr swap. Yep, cheap ---- rules....which explains why this is my favorite place to be H.M.T kills......

Re: Primered cars???
If people knew what kind of work it takes to get all that black primer ---- off when you actually decide to do a real paint job, they wouldn't ever do it.

Re: Primered cars???
if ur buying a car for cheap and u dont have alot of money for looks i dont see a problem with making it flat black or grey or white basic colors always look descent as long as the car is strait
|
Re: Primered cars???
I've been thinking about this for the hatch but not sure if I can go through with it. Gotta fix the cancer on it but since it's just my beater/daily driver it's just gonna get a tub full of bondo or some fiberglass to fill in the holes! lol.
|
Re: Primered cars???
Yah, i got half a bodyjob done on my 93 coupe, now when it rains teh trunk fills with water from the hole at teh pass wheel well area....sucks ass.....still looks killer in flat black tho...

Re: Primered cars???
My rear quarters are primered because I haven't had money to re-paint the car after I filled the rust holes. Oh well. O0
