Price of a evo 8 turbo?

Ok, I can get a brand new evo 8 turbo on the cheap but i never see any for sale.
So the question is, what do these dam things go for and would it be worth 100 bucks? ???

Looks just like this but its real.

Is it worth 100 bucks or not?

Re: Price of a evo 8 turbo?

Yes. Solid choice for a LS, D-series, and B16 because of the small turbine wheel and twin scroll turbine housing and compressor is good for something like 400whp+. GSR and ITR would probably be a lot of fun under 6000rpm but after that, turbine restriction would probably occur. If you were looking for something to road race with and had either engines it probably would work pretty well if you increased boost based on rpm.

I would doubt 400whp but its def. still a decent turbo. prolly a chang cling dong turbo tho.

I see them going for $250 (the real Evo 8 ones, not ching chong ripoffs that die in 100miles) all the time on DSMtrader and H-T etc. If you can get a good one for $100 jump on that ----.

Every 10 lb/min is equal to 144.72 cfm

400whp wouldn't be much of an issue if the turbine wheel wasn't so small.

If it's real, jump on that ----. Only thing is the twin scroll exhaust inlet flange is funky if your thinking of making a manifold for it.

If you happen to find another that's 100 to 150 let me know I'd like to upgrade from my 14b sometime.

Its not the same flange as the 14b. The flange is a odd ball one. Ask Eville140 he made a ram horn mani for a friend.

BTW Eville140 mani's are PIMP!!!! :y

Yeah I see that now, but aren't the DP flanges the same? That's what I would be worried about I guess. Nevermind, if anyone happens to find a super cheap Big 16g (not an evo 8, more like an evo 3) let me know. Afaik that ---- bolts up.

Re: Price of a evo 8 turbo?

There are 2 main types of 16g6's from the evo 8's...one's that came with the 9.8cm^2 hotside, and one's with the 10.5cm^2 hotsides. Nothing about these turbos is the same as previous generation 16g's, all flanges/downpipe flanges/gaskets are different. They are a reverse rotation turbo, so they spin in the opposite direction of previous years 14b/16g's and all others utilizing the Tdo5H exhaust wheel. The Tdo5HR exhaust wheel is pretty equivalent to a .63 Garrett size wheel, and more than likely will have a decent amount of lag on anything smaller than a 1.8 liter. Stock wg rating is at 12psi, and they have a dual flapper design on most of the internal gates that eliminates all the problems the older generation 16g's had with boost creep. Trust me, this turbo can support 400awhp on an Evo 8 running high boost and meth, so there's no reason not to believe it can't do the same on a smaller displacement engine and fwd. If you have any more questions about these turbos, feel free to ask...I know quite a bit about them. And yes...$100 would be a steal for one of these. Going rate for a stock Evo 8 turbo is anywhere from $250-$400 depending on condition and mileage.
