Re: Preveiw of my turbo write up (PICS)
I helped with the instal and design, Im the older brother. For the intercooler he is going to mask the fins and mist the front of the tubes with black paint to hide it and add a expanded sheet mesh for rocks. Itll be much more discrete and protect it from rocks and theft...
The air box is aluminum riveted together with a bellmouth inlet on the turbo. The paper filter forms a arc with the corners around the inlet. We are still in the process of making bellmouths for the inlet on the bumper and into the airbox. We are hoping for a 0" H20 pressure loss at 30mph with cold air. This will help out tremendously with preventing detonation with the 10.2 CR. The intercooler also has ABS diverters as seen in the top picture to force the air through the intercooler instead of giving it a path to go around it. You can also kinda see the side diverters in the nose view.
If you research paper vs foam vs oiled cotton the pressure drop difference is like 1 cm of water and the filtering ability is ---- with foam and oil cotton, so the decision was simple.
This week its getting tuned and the random ends are being pulled together.
As far as getting a new body for the car... the windshield frame is rusted out so he cant replace the windshield after this one and fro some reason the steering is really mushy, besides that its just rust.
