Default Post up good recipes, preferably cheap

Well I've been out of the parents house and on my own for a few months now and well I'm not really saving a lot of money, and trying to save more. My food expense is where i can save some i think, i have been eating out quite a bit and spending a nice chunck of change in the process. So post up recipes, cheaper the better.

I will steal a couple of recipe books when i get to work later. My mom "professional chef" has a couple note pads with some recipes, laying around the house. I will look for it

Simple recipe's for the lazy home cook

Mushrooms
Bacon
Cream (double)
Pasta
Onions/Garlic

Chop up the bacon, mushrooms and onions/garlic, any size will do, but small = faster. Fry the bacon, then the onions, then the mushrooms all in the same pan (you can add butter or oil). Cook the pasta in the mean time. As everything is about to be finished frying, chuck in the garlic and the cream and mix together. Drain the pasta, serve pasta covered in creamy sauce, very lazy takes 10 mins and can use any amount of anything you have left in the kitchen. No ingredient other then pasta is actually important. Nor are any quantities.

Chicken and mushroom pie:
1 chicken breast per person (enough chicken for the number of people)
Mushrooms
Butter 2-3 oz min.
Milk
Plain flour
Ready rolled pastry (puff or shortcrust)

Chop the chicken and mushrooms into whatever size you want, i go for thin slices but it doesn't matter.
Melt some butter in a large frying pan (large/high sided) fry off the chicken until it goes a light gold colour
add the mushrooms, fry for a while.
Add more butter a good gob will do (1-2oz) then add 2 heaped desert spoon fulls of plain flour
Mix the flour into the fried mushrooms and chicken until everything is well coated
Start adding milk to the pan, a little at a time, keep mixing until you've formed a white sauce the thickness of single cream.
Put mixture into something to go in the oven, cover with a layer of pastry (brush with melted butter)
Cook at a reasonable temp. until the pastry goes golden brown.

i have a bunch of recipes but none actually written down, basically just ---- i liek to make when my woman doesn't feel like cooking.

Meat Muffins (never thought of what they were called)

pound of ground beef
spahgetti sauce
roll of refridgerated biscuits
muffin tin

brown and drain the fat off the meat, mix with the sauce, press the biscuits into the muffin tins so that it is on the bottom and up the sides then spoon the meat into it and cook it in the oven as the biscuit directions say too. take it out and put some cheese on top and back in for 3 minutes. pretty good ---- and its cheap and easy.

Teriyaki Beef Spare Ribs

4 thin cut beef spare rib strips
yoshida teriyaki marinade
instant rice
cabbage

marinate the strips for over an hour
BBQ them on the grill and serve with steamed cabbage and instant rice
pretty cheap and good, think the whoel meal usually costs about $6

Stuffing Rolls

get about a pound of rump roast sliced for carne asada
make some stove top stuffing
take each slice and fill with stuffing and roll it like a doobie, use a tooth pick to hold it
put them all in a 8X12 pan and cook in the oven for about 15 minutes on 350 or till the meat is done. its good with mashed patatoes and brown gravy on the side.

Hot Wings

pack of drumettes of boneless tenders (whatever you want)
texas petes/louisianna hot sauce (whatever you got)
chicken fry coating
butter

mix some of the batter with water, dunk each piece in the mixure then roll in the dry batter and drop into the fryer at 360 degrees. let them cook till they are golden brown and start to float. take them out and drain on a napkin/plate. in a cup melt some butter, start adding the hotsauce to the butter till it is as hot as you want it. then take a freezer zip-lock bag and put the chicken in then add the butter mixture and shake till there all coated, pour then back onto a plate. pretty easy to make and there bomb as hell with the right hot sauce and ranch.

i know i have more but just can't think of them at the moment.
