well austin is kinda in the middle of a couple suburbs and i dont go there a whole lot, but i do know housing is expensive in the city. im right next to fort hood, and my old apartment complex with 2 bedrooms was like 350 a month. paid utilities. in the ghetto for my city but still a lot nicer than most ghettos. i love it here, never really thought about moving away. i live about 35 minutes from a huge junkyard and about 15 from a couple small ones. and the city doesnt give me ---- for all the crazy *** animals i have.

If you're looking at the southeast, check out Chattanooga TN of Ashville NC, or anywhere east TN/west NC. Both cities were in the top 10 cities to live in according to Outside Mag. I lived in Chattanooga for about 10 years. If your into the outdoors its a great place. There is hiking, biking, paddling, climbing all within 30 min from town. We've been looking at a house just outside of town, Lrg 4 bedroom, 16 wooded acres, barn, 3 car garage, for $250,000. Stay away from Virginia, horrible traffic laws and lots of cops. I would also stay north of Atlanta, don't move to FL.

Check out Vermont. It's pretty much dead on with your description. You can live in the middle of nowhere, nice scenery and stuff to do outside, stuff is a short drive away, nice neighborhoods pretty much anywhere. Cost of living kinda varies around the state though. Some places are expensive others not so much.

Rochester. I wouldn't live in Buffalo, its depressing there, although the more rural areas of wny are really nice and actually have many attributes hes looking for.

+1 for Asheville, NC. Born and raised here. According to 20/20 asheville is "the happiest" place to live in the us. I dunno im pretty happy i guess lol.

You arent going to get rich here, but there is lots to do, and we have 3 dragstrips within an 80 mile radius. Lots of street racing if your into that, straightline and twistys. Lots of mountain roads to haul *** on. etc. etc. Moderate climate, mild winters. Very diverse population.
Moderately expensive to live here, depends on how well you want to live I guess.

My wife is a real estate agent she can hook you up if you buy a house here.

your pretty picky, its almost like you atre looking for fast cheap AND reliable.

2) Beautiful scenery. Lots of things to do outdoors. -indicative of rual area
3) Medium population density in a suburban area. If I want something, I don't want to have to drive very far but I don't want to be on top of my neighbors and ---- everywhere. - indicative of suburb area
4) Not a shitty neighborhood full of half wits and rejects. I'd like to be the only one in a mile or two radius at least. -indicative or rual area
5) Moderate cost of living. Somewhere I can get a decent apartment for around $600 a month and a small house for around $1200-1500 that doesn't suck. -indicative or rual area

not too sure if you will get the no neighboors for a mile thing but from teh rest sounds like a subruban spot might be best. where are you now and how far are you trying to move?

Dude, you're an idiot. I didn't say I wanted no neighbors, I said I wanted to live in an area where people aren't *** backwards. I said I wanted to live in a suburban area that offers outdoors things to do. Meaning if I want to go hiking, it's a half hour drive to somewhere. If I want to go rafting, there is a river, ocean, or lake. If I want to go skiing or snowboarding, mountains aren't more than 5 hours away. Not only that but I want to be able to get in my car and drive away from people. Get some sort of secluision. Not total seclusion but some.

If what I was asking for was completely infeasible, then this thread wouldn't have gotten 40ish replies. Please revisit high school and learn how to comprehend what you are reading.

I just want to live in a nice place where I can simplify my life comfortably and surround myself with a more laid back lifestyle. None of this describes NJ so I'm pretty ready to move on.
Sounds like you'd like Arizona. I just visited Tucson with my gf, her parents live there. They live in a nice neighborhood with a park right there and they live in a nice 4-bedroom ranch style house with a walled in back yard (kinda small but enough to sit/lay out, grill etc. Granite countertops, everythings nice for 1000/month. I couldn't believe it considering in Milwaukee my 2-bedroom 3rd floor flat costs 950/month.

Life style is really simple there. Nothing to worry about really except for your job/school and what you do on the weekends. And there's a lot of events going on in the area they said. I was there a week ago and it was all 60s and 70s, but summer gets really hot, obviously.

Not a whole lot of water around though....well there's the santa cruz river lol.....but it's bone dry.

However, I know Tucson is only like 1.5 hours from Phoenix, about 6 hours from Vegas, and like 4 hours from San Diego roughly.

EDIT: It's also 45 min from Nogales, Mexico. So if you wanna get cheap/fake ---- and good margueritas (sp?)...
