POSSIBLY RIPPED OFF BY HONDA-TECH MEMBER HELP!
 

It's almost been 3 weeks since this Tommy Kwong guy has taken my $190us. I seen an auction on ebay he had for a manifold and in the ebay auction said to email cause he had a wastegate and a couple other things for sale. I emailed him about his tial 35mm wastegate and we worked out a deal for $190us shipped.

He said he sent it out Monday the 8th. Still no wastegate yet. I'm going to file a paypal complaint soon. It still might come this week and I might be jumping the gun, but if it turns out that I don't get any wastegate, is there anyone that lives near him or knows him?

He emailed me and sent me the insurance number (which is no good to me) and I emailed him 4 times asking for the real tracking number and he never replied back, so i'm starting to get worried.

This is the last major piece I need to finishing my turbo project.

hmmmmmm........ that's odd, every time i've shipped to canada, they won't let me put insurance on things. something is fishy about that if he said he put insurance on it. go ahead and at least file the pay pal complaint, if it comes, you can dismiss the complaint, but if it doesn't come, at least you'll get the ball rolling with it. not to mention, once he sees you've filed a complaint, it may motivate him to 'really' ship it if he hasn't. this happened to my friend with a turbo (actually the turbo i have now, i bought it from him), the guy was dicking around and never responding and what not, then, it got here a week after he filed the pay pal complaint :-\

I am about 2 hours south of Seattle, but I know there are quite a few HMT members up in that area. If you never get the wastegate maybe at the next HMT BBQ/Meet we will have to go on a field trip. :)

im not sure what the deal is with shipping to canada, but im in MA, and nothing has ever taken longer then 8 days TOTAL. i think the max on a ground shipping is 5 or 6 business days. when i get a tracking number, everything always works out fine, even if an item gets replaced. If theres no tracking number, i either would have asked for the money, or waited 14 days, and then asked for the money. i hate dirtbags.

I am going to wait 14 business days, which would be this Friday. I got a blow off valve and an oil temperature gauge shipped to me in the same size box, and it only took 5 business days from California. The wastegate should have been here by now, but i'll continue to wait.

I say jump the gun, When u file a complant with paypal, they will just tell the guy he needs to provide proff piong and if not they will get your money back, I had to go hrew it with a fucker that wasnt gonna give me my tranny, Needles to say, as soon as he saw paypal was knocking on his door, that fucker ran to post office , shipped it and got a tracking number. Paypal only gives ya 30 days from the time you payed him

I'm in the same boat, except I sent a money order for mine. Guy said he got it and had to let it clear. I thought that was a little fishy but I didn't really know how it worked between Canada and the US. So I emailed him back like a week later and he said oh yeah it cleared I'll send the turbo out monday(this was last monday) I was supposted to be shipped air and should have been here in 5-10 days so I'm hoping it'll be here soon, I'm getting a little worried, I send the money order to him well over 1 1/2 months ago...

umm, i thought a money order was instant, hence why there better then a personal check? i did alot of stuff with money orders, got screwed once, then opened a checking account. paypal is def worth it, plus with the checking acct, i get direct deposit, rather then a check on mondays :)

Money orders to/from Canada and the US are not that simple. It has to be payable on a reserve bank in your country. If its not then it has to go back to its country of origin to be payed. We go threw this all the time with Canadian money orders. Our credit union wont cash them for thirty days after deposit so they will clear.

I dont know where this guy is shipping the turbo from but usually it doesnt take air 5-10 days unless you're going to the moon. In my opinion, if this guy doesnt provide tracking number... I think you got it up the butt...

notice the guy only has 57 posts!!! and his last post was Civic Type-R last posted at 1:38 AM 2/13/2004. Also note that his feedback is not super high on eBay... be skeptical.. give it 14 days and then let it loose on him.

hey i sent a turbo to canada about 1 year ago, i sent it by ground it took like 2 weeks to get there... some customs ----... dude in Canada started tripping there for a minute and ----, but then he got it and was happy ;)

I was in a similar situation and did a report on Paypal, hes sent me a refund instantly. I might not work with you but like everyone has said wait 14 days and report him.

And they are right on the money order issue, if it doesn't have an american bank as a reserve to back up the funds, and it is based on an international bank, you have to wait for it to clear. I have been thru this a bunch of times, while selling stuff on ebay.

i had a manifold sent from CT to indiana by ups ground and some how it took two weeks. i sent it from my house in CT to school in IN i payed regualr ground which was like 10 bux and it took that long. there could just be some shipping delays

I emailed the guy today and he is going to send me the tracking number tomorrow, he sells over 50 items a week on ebay so I don't think he is ------- me and his ebay feedback is like 98% good so I'm hoping it's just a shipping problem. And the money order I sent was a postal money order so he should have been able to cash it right away. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it is here by monday.
Oh and about the 5-10 day shipped air thing that isn't what he said, he sent me options to ship and that is the one I picked, it alone was almost $40 US....

Another false alarm the turbo came by ups today. Them fuckers charged me $20 for duty and the good damn thing was suppost to be shipped as a present. Oh well it's here anyways, I'll post some pics of what I have collecting later on tonight... I basically have everything except an external wastegate(the turbo is cracked badly aroung the housing for the internal wastegate), and some piping.
