is this possible

Cleaning through my garage today i stumbled upon an ECU pinout sheet for my car. After briefly skimming over it i noticed the pin out for the knock sensor. Would it be possible to hook up a light so you could see if the knock sensor is sensing anything? I guess i'm just a little paranoid about knocking and detonation, but i think it'd be a nice thing to have if possible. Also, what does a detonating engine sound like?

get a multi tester and see the voltage signal

knock sensors run of freqencies(sp) not voltage so good luck :P

its really low, like 5mhz or some thing

you could probably run it through some amplifier then to a light?

Don't write if you don't know. Never.
Knock sensors give out an audio signal. This is variable voltage and variable frequency. IIRC most of the knock signal should be around 7kHz.
You should run the signal through a filter network and then into an amplifier to drive a light.

I just ment its not a striat on/off signal like a oil presure switch or something, you can buy aftermarket systems with a graduated display to show you the serverity of the knock also. He just wanted to hook up a idiot light to the ecu (simple) I was just saying its not that simple. You are right though I guess I shouldn't have said "not voltage" (since its pretty hard to have a frequency with out voltage ::) ) was just simplifiying things for him :P
