The new cars are quite easy to work on. If I didnt have a cushy job wrenching on Porsche all day, id be on the VW side in a heartbeat.

Personally, I dont prefer the older VW simply because replacement parts to fix minor repairs on older cars quickly add up to exceed the value of the car. The same can be said with older hondas but at least (where I live) honda parts are a dime a dozen. VW are scarce.

The new 2.0T is a gem. The 06-08 models have been out for quite some time, and the only engine replaced here (i work for a vw/audi/porsche dealer) has been due to the dumb bitch not changing the oil EVER and had 35K on the clock lol.

The only issues ive seen have been the oil separator, the diverter valve, and all direct injection gas engines have premature carbon buildup.

I bought the wifey an 08 wolfsburg edition Jetta and she loves it. 6-speed, leather, heated seats, the works, out the door for $20k. Not bad for a brand new car. Plus, it sounds badass with a turndown on the end of the downpipe lol.

holy ---- stick i cant believe you actually said a vr6 is better then a 1.8t. I also own a 95 vr6 gti.....i'll take my 1.8t over it any day. Power of a vr6 sucks dick when compared to a 1.8t. Not to mention have fun doing timing chains, guides.

2.0t's on the other hand seem quite well. Have yet to have a run in with one.

VR6 is my personal preferance. Boosted of course. A vr6 with the sweet breath of t4 compressor is a thing of beauty under full boost.
Vr6 guides/chains arent that bad once youve done it a few times.

When I had my integra running, I raced a gti 2.0t with a bunch of custom ---- and a decent tune (not sure who) and only pulled him by a car at 120mph. My teg was a consistant 300hp car.
