porting

I had a spare y8 manifold and a b16 gasket layin around so i tried porting for the first time. I used an air grinder and some different bits i had. I tried to go as slow as i could control the grinder and work as evenly as possible. The edges of the inlet were already missing some chips. Any tips someone can throw my way. I think i left it a little to rough and probably need to go over it again. ???

Re: porting

Use carbide bits and drench the workpiece in white spirit, WD40, wax or something to prevent the bit from "biting" onto the aluminum. Run the grinder at full speed and apply only light pressure on the bit, only take a little bit at once because you can't really reverse what you're doing.

Re: porting

You definetly need to smooth it out a little more and make sure you keep the bit moveing.
