anyone used por 15? does it work on welded body panels? my car has rust where the rear quarter was welded in under the trunk lid and under the side skirt, car will get painted by a friend this spring sometime and it will suck if rust comes through fast

Can it be ground out or is the rust all the way through? Surface rust wouldn't be a problem, just grind it off and use por 15 or even rustoleum rust stopper paint.

it may sound ------- crazy, but has anyone ever bolted a huge block of zinc or magnesium to their car to use as a sacrificial anode like they do on underground pipes so oxidation takes place at the sacrificial metal and reduction takes place at the body?

I was just using Rust-Mort. converts the iron oxide to iron phosphate or something like that. supposedly won't rust again if done right. The guy that recommended it to me has his doctorate in chemistry so he should know what he's talking about. I didn't use it correctly though cause it said to wait 24hrs after applied before you paint over it. I waited 2, but all the rust was black instead of red. You can get it in a autobody store for like 11 bucks a pint.

the only thing that "rusts" is the zinc/magnesium block. it oxidizes for the steel.
