Please read before PM'n me for a part

Ok, I know this thread is going to turn a shitload of 'can you get me this' bullshit, but I want to put this out there because I get a ton of people who pm me asking for a certain part.

First off, if you dont know, I am in the Marine Corps stationed in Okinawa, Japan. With that I get a ton of people who pm me for stuff. Understood. ----, you put 2 and 2 together, you would think I can get parts. You can go through me and cut out the middle man. This thread is here to tell you otherwise.

Parts aren't what they are cracked up to be. I cant get them, and if I can get them they are because I litterly stumble upon them. People think I can just go walking into a yard and walk out with all kinds of cool JDM mad tyte ----. **I dont generally go looking for parts for people** Heres why:

Now, I have been here a little over a year and a half. Ive tried to sell parts...and 9 times out of 10, its almost never worth it.

senerio #1

lets take seats for instance.
a pair of DC2 seats. a pair is around 50,000y or around $475 (depending on the yen rate). Then you ship those seats to wherever your located...add another $60 or so. Then add a few more bucks for your time and effort, I usually charge $50 depending on the item. Now lets look at where your at:
$475 seats
$60
$50
=====
$585

now you gotta ship them stateside. add another ~$150 for shipping

$585
$150
=====
$735

you can find them on ebay for that much....give or take a few $$

Lets takea SiR gauge cluster that someone mentioned me getting.
Every SiR cluster ive come across, the yard wanted 5000-6000y for.
so were starting at $45
I would add $20 for my time and effort
another $10-15 for shipping...
your $10 away from what you can find them for stateside.

-----------------------------------------------------
See where im going with this. Honestly, if I could go out and walk into a junkyard and find something like it was cake, I would be selling ---- all of the dam time. If you see somehing I have for sale, I have it for sale.

-----------------------------------------------------

My next pet peeve. I get a messege like this:
"Hey, can you go find me XXX part, im good for the money" (but they usually dont have it up front to send to me, and they dont want to send me money for a part they cant see, which is understandable)

So I spend my day, going and looking for one or two parts, which im gonna profit MAYBE $20 on. I spend my money on those parts, come back, take a pic and have it ready to go...and then nope. Now all of the suddon the person doesnt have the money, and i'm out my money.

So with that, I am very very selective to who I sell to and whose word I take for 'can you get me this'.

CRX's are long gone. They are what...15years old? THe island is 70 miles long, 20 miles wide and has millions of cars on the road. There is a law that the Japaneese can't keep a car in the yard for more than 30 days. Some budge the law a bit.....but CRX's arent anywhere to be found. :'(

Hey man Don't you live in dayton? Besselers down here in ky is full of crx's what year do you need a few of these cars down here look better than most you still see on the road. It pisses me off to they won't sell a whole car and like I said a few down here are better then what you see driving around.

sorry bro... I live in SoCal.. but you should hit up that yard for me ;) I want moldings from a 90-91 crx ONLY... they are slightly thinner than the 88-89 and match my bumper :P I would buy a complete set that is mint, but if it's not mint I could really use a passenger side rear quarter panel molding

word my friends dad use to sell used Hondas on the side for extra cash when he was stationed over In japan couple years back. He was always telling me about all these used hondas with 45-60k miles on them that looked like the oil and never been changed etc. So how ironic most jdm motors you get these days are kinda beat except the auto motors.
