Plasma vs lcd
Looking to get a new tv after the first of the year for the super bowl and am in a midst of going with lcd or plasma. Some stuff i have read is that lcd doesnt get burn in like plasma, .02 cents welcome.

If your getting it mainly for watching sports, don't do either, they both will have some ghosting effect from the fast movements. I would look for a DLP unless you are set on putting it on the wall. But yes, LCD's dont get burn in like plasma's can, but the new Panasonic plasma supposedly is very good in terms of burn-in problems. How much are you looking to spend?

for that kinda money your not gonna find many good sized plasmas that are actually HDTV, most are EDTV wich is a lower resolution. plasmas use more power and get hot but they have much higher contrast ratios and better viewing angles. if you watch alot of DVD's the EDTV resolution actually matches better than HD but for sports your gonna want HDTV. personally ive been looking at a 42" rear projection LCD Vega TV from sony ~$1600-1800. you might be able to find a DLP in taht range but they tend to be a bit larger in size so that might be bad fo you i dunno.

for that money, get a nice rear projection HDTV. I think thery look better then plasma in some cases.

Plasma has the overall better picture but LCD's capture movement a little bit faster. So for sports and Action movies I would go with LCD for the best picture quality go with a plasma. They're both very close in a picture quality stand point. To save you some $$$$ get a LCD rear projection $1500 to $3000 for good one. At Best Buy where I work we currently sell a 55" Sony LCD rear projection for $2200 great deal and 42 Sony for $1500 another great deal. check em out man.

For the money you are wanting to spend I would go with a DLP TV. You could get a larger TV for the money and DLP's look beautiful on HD also. I used to sell a ---- ton of the DLPs.
