piping

Anyone ever use condinewable (sp?) piping for intercoolers?

Re: piping

no, but you can. ;D I know a guy who used it for an exhaust. With the threaded couplings and all 8)

and by your spelling I was guessing you said conduit

Oh, BTW its at home depot in a 20ft 2" tube for like $17 any good? would you prefer it? i mean its so damn cheap and can be bent easy.

jesus. here we go again.
ok pvc stands for polymer of vinyl chloride. with extreme heat, the chloride WILL break down. and extreme cold will only make the pvc brittle.

Re: piping

my advice as a plumber is to only use the pvc on the cold side of the intercooler if its cool enough. maybe cool enough to put your hand on it and it wont burn you.

WTF are you talking about? He asked about conduit, not PVC. ::) Conduit is metal piping.

Well it depends on the inlet on your intercooler. Either way you have a 2.5" inlet to the throttle body. So if you use 2" conduit, you're going to need 2 silicone reducers. The price of those would equal some decent mandrel bent tubing.

With prices as low as they are for mandrel bent tubing, even HMT can afford it.
Shoot me a PM and I'll get you setup with a nice charge pipe kit for a mucho bueno price.

Mandrel Bends
Silicone Couplers
T-Bolt Clamps

Re: piping

I used crome plumbing from the pluming section and radiator hose for the hot side cost me about 25 bucks for everything. Then I got a free intake that I cut up to make fit. It all kinda looks like ---- but it works.

SkunT 02-03-2006 12:01 AM

Re: piping

---- that. PVC will work. its not what I would use all the time, but then again i wouldnt use conduit all the time either. flex pipe is where its at bitches.

Re: piping

Conduit is the exact same basic thing as generic exhaust pipe. If you've used one galvanized mild steel, you've pretty much used them all LoL! I've built my fair share of up-pipes/downpipes, y-pipes, and exhaust out of it b/c it's cheaper than generic exhaust pipe. Go to lowes/homedepot outside into the back of the garden area where they store the big ----. You'll find tons of 10-15' long 2-3" conduit & fence post. If you've used one galvanized mild steel post, you've used them all. ;)
Wouldn't work for a manifold, but for anything post header/post turbo, Give it a coat of high-temp paint before you put it on. It'll last indeffinately as long as you don't bottom it out.
