pigeon meat
dont chime in if you live outside the city...
basically my question is.. has anyone here ever shot and ate a pigeon?
or heard anything against doing this?
in severn md we used to shoot em and eat em all the time but we felt it was safe and it was.. because its almost rural like sorroundings... same goes for when we were in egypt i used to come home with 10 birds at a time and cook em..
on the other hand i now live in detroit... so are they safe to eat here?
pigeons have been leaving massive ***** all over my cars so i picked up a cheap bb gun today and i have been dropping em like crazy... once they drop i run out with a knife and slaughter it so ittl die faster then for some god awful reason i defeathered and cleaned a couple of em.. and they looked fine to me.. no ticks no fleas no bullshit leasions no wierd signs nothing pointing that the birds were sick... so idk id just like to get hmt's opinion before eating em

Re: pigeon meat
hahahaha.
If you've eaten them before, don't stop now. Fully cook them and I'm sure they'll be fine...
However, I choose to eat stuff that has to go through SOME regulation, although that doesn't usually mean jack. At least in that case I have someone to sue.

Re: pigeon meat
do a little reasearch on what bacterial infections they can carry (worms/influenza/ecoli...etc..) then find out at what temp those bacteria are destroyed at, anything above that should kill anything dangerous to humans, id just not suggest to make it an everyday meal, b/c nothing gets mercury out of meat

Re: pigeon meat
I have back in the 70's when I was in the service, stationed in NC. one of my friends from the south turned me on to them, but he deep fried them and had a excel. dry rub on them. Not to bad, but as for todays pigeon
