Pics of my progress...slowly getting there..NO 56k

the setup:

d16y7 with y8 mani
tuner toys 450 cc injectors with GEM fuel rail and Holley 255lph pump
chipped obd1 computer (uberdata)
weir racing adapter plate/hf mani
14b turbo
stealthmode oil line kit
JRC 5" classic fmic (bought a long time ago on sale)
2.5" charge pipes (JCW)
Custom couplers from the farm store...rubber with a steel reinforcement built in

Still need to get the pipes welded up, locate the BOV (1g DSM with tuner toys flange), install the ecu, blah, blah, blah....

Please, disregard the ultra messy backround...and yes the wiring will get organized on the nitrous and a new fuel line will get installed...eventually.

here's the pics:

My custom turbo outlet...can you believe I paid $30 bucks to build that ugly piece?

Then goes over and drops down where the washer resevoir used to be

Next comes the double turn into the intercooler

then up through the tranny mount and over to the throttlebody

just grind those welds down on that outlet if you don't like it. Then it'll barely be noticeable after you paint them. Looks nice man, good job on it!

hahaha we have the same exact setup, except i have an rx7 smic instead of a fmic.. i ------ hate the j-pipe on my turbo... mines come off the turbo and straight out to the front of the car, and my smic inlet is directly 6-8 inches below it..

it used to have one on it, the first time i owned this car (long story). but it was removed by a snow bank. Now i can't decide on either a carbon lip or a painted Si lip. It will get one, so just hold your horses. O0

looks good, for some reason I've never really cared for those wheels on other cars... but they look pretty good on your car.

Looks nice. Please get us some videos asap. I always ask for videos. LOL. I love seeing videos of boosted setups. They speak for themselves.

Also are those the gt3's? Looks real nice. Again please post up some video if you can.

Props on the setup. Who is going to tune your setup? Are you getting a street tune first or hopping on the dyno?

Congrats.

Re: Pics of my progress...slowly getting there..NO 56k

Thanks for the responses guys.

Yes, those are the GT3's.

I will get some video when the car is running again. I've been known to do a burnout or two in my time.

I will be tuning this one myself. I bought the moates burner, 5 chips, and Zif sockets. I've been trying to wrap my mind around the whole process of editing a rom for my specific application. I have downloaded a few .bins from another user here (thanks scttydb411) that is using a similar setup. I'll start with one of those tunes and see how she runs. There is a dyno about 30 minutes from me and the next big purchase i'm making will be a WBO2 sensor.

I also got the pipes welded up today and they are currently hanging in the basement with paint drying.

more pics...kinda looks like giant macaroni painted silver ;D

Oh, and I think I'll leave this in there, just in case I feel like scattering engine pieces all over the road. >:D

Ok, here's the pics of the car finished. I didn't get any pics of the piping with the bumper off but it looks pretty damn good all painted silver and such. And the under hood still needs a good detailing and the nitrous wiring needs loomed up, but I think it's pretty enough to show off for now.

here's a front view, you just barely notice the intercooler when looking at the car.

This one's kinda tough, but it is a shot of the 1g dsm bov. Mounted in the driver's fender well, this is a shot snapped from between the fender liner and the bumper cover. Sounds pretty cool, not too loud either.

That's it so far, I've been driving it a few days out of the week, and the other night a buddy of mine shot some video of the car. As soon as I get a copy, I'll post it up too.

what sensor is that?

Re: Pics of my progress...slowly getting there..NO 56k

Why, that's no sensor Blue...that's a NX nitrous nozzle. :4

lol. Id be real careful with that coupler near your exhaust mani. Its prolly gonna burn eventually. Downpipe looks real good man, i like your setup

audioguru76 12-26-2005 12:47 AM

Re: Pics of my progress...slowly getting there..NO 56k

the angle of the pic makes the coupler look closer than it really is. But I will keep an eye on it anyway. Thanks for the compliment.

for an exhaust shop downpipe... that thing looks great..

the exhaust shops around here wouldn't take much time to do ----, if you want it all crocked and maybe not completely welded they are the place to go.

looks like a good setup

all these dam picture threads.. i can't wait til i get a welder and get cracking on my buddy's del sol... :)

Re: Pics of my progress...slowly getting there..NO 56k

yeah, the guys at this muffler shop will actually listen to you when you tell them what you want...but they are going to charge you for it. I went in there and they were starting to mock up the downpipe but was concerned with being able to remove it, where the O2 needed to be, pipe diameter, and whether or not the two pipes needed to be the same size, and even made the wastegate tube blend into the main exhaust very smoothly and far enough downstream to prevent reversion through the turbo. I was very pleased with it, even though they were fairly high $.

yeah, cleaned the pipes with adhesive remover to get the stickers off, then cleaned with soap/water. dried them. hit them with hitemp aluminum color paint, then layed the hitemp clear. I will probably wetsand/buff the pipes in the spring so they are REALLY shiny.
