pics from a local comp

i doubt anyones interested but i thought i'd share some pics from a recent local Ammature drift comp i entered. donald told me to share it since i was tellin him about it.

basically if you can drift, and you live in the area, this place holds out a comp for you to enter. they bring in pro drifters to judge it. they hold it at sanberdino's NOS center inside an mini oval. they have 2 classes, street which is solo drifting out on the track, and tandem which is side by side stuff. my names kirk shaw incase you don't know.

here were the standings:

STREET CLASS

Qualifying Order

1. Enrique Mendoza
2. Joe Dycus
3. Ryan Litteral
4. Kirk Shaw
5. Jeremiah Johnson
6. Lisa Klassen
7. Orlando Gamez
8. Tony Pham

Top 8

1. Enrique Vs 8. Tony - Winner Enrique(Tony hits wall on turn 4)
2. Joe Vs. 7. Orlando - Winner Joe
3 .Ryan Vs. 6. Lisa - Winner Ryan
4. Kirk Vs. 5. Jeremiah - Winner Kirk

Top 4

1. Enrique Vs. 4. Kirk - Winner Enrique
3. Ryan Vs. 2. Joe - Winner Ryan

Finals

1. Enrique Vs. 3. Ryan - Winner Ryan

1st Place - Ryan Litteral
2nd Place - Enrique Mendoza
3rd Place - Joe Dycus
4th Place - Kirk Shaw

ca18det>sr20det just giving you ----, i started out working on s12's ;) shouldv'e taken a engine shot

turboDA6 07-16-2007 01:54 PM

Re: pics from a local comp

i got some and can post them later i guess. there kinda old so ill take new ones.

i like the ca18 motor, its not bad. but i've seen to many people pop them with abuse when it comes to drifting. high redlining non stop basically and ca motors always crap out. sr20s die from oil starvation but i dont see sr20's going down as often as the ca18, plus i got it for super cheap so i didnt wanna pass it up.

im also a KA kinda guy, but my KA poo'd out on me b4 i had a chance to boost it, so i kinda lost courage and respect for it lol

ososlohatch 07-16-2007 02:17 PM

Re: pics from a local comp

yea sr20's aren't bad motors but ca's have iron blocks ;) my buddy had a turboed ka that wa pretty fun to, never got into the whole drifting thing with our cars though. tires are expensive as it is. good job getting up in the top 5 though, you need a big hmt sticker to represent at the next event

sounds like you need a rb25det or a rb26dett.....that should solve all your power issues, almost in stock trim motor wise.

turboDA6 07-16-2007 02:36 PM

Re: pics from a local comp

where did i post that i had power issues? im sitting around 280ish at full boost which is more then enough to keep the tires spinning.

and i do have an hmt sticker on it still. jus not a HUGE one as we dont even make them that big. but im still reppin it!

i was just sayin ya know. 280 isnt bad. i have around 300 in my TA but with the big ass tires i have on the back i have issues with turning them over and keeping them going in a straight line. havent tried to slide it yet.

kirk's car does NOT have any power issues... trust me I know. Not the fastest car I have driven, but by far one of the FUNNEST cars I have driven. The power IS there when you need it, just tap on the throttle. :y

Krik let's trade cars for a week, I got a stupid fast bone stock del sol. 0psi turn you out.

good job on the comp Mr. pro drifter.

Re: pics from a local comp

thanks merdizzle. the car feels way different then before tho, same power, more suspension goodies with a stiffer feel.

i dunno if ill trade u tho haha, i rarely drive it now. im a pooty now and afraid of cops. 3 1/4" turbo straight back pipe. no resinator, no muffler, no cat, no nothing.

Looks really cool and those are some AWESOME pics. Nice job and good luck in future comps. Probably pretty cool to meet pro drivers too, I bet.

1) Drifting sucks

2) Describing your tires as something "wrapped" around your rims, is gay

3) Lets burn a cross.

Re: pics from a local comp

the green zenki 240sx is ka-t. the fmic is mounted up between the headlights right against the radiator.

stealthy, dont be mad at me lol. i explained what tires i run for many reasons. u can't jus run junkyard tires if ur trying to compete. traction is a big issue with going where u want it to go. not jus spinning them like crazy to make it sideways around a turn.

its basically a welded diff. its locker locked. no give. 100% locked at all times.

comps are fun, but i honestly did it for practice. i didn't think i woulda placed like i did but eh.

i enjoy drifting because the community provides places to do it and have fun doing it. comp style events with pros n ----.

if drag racing did that in my area, i'd be doing that just as often. but they dont

It's not the tires, it's the term "wrapped". It strikes me as mad HT'ish, and isn't as great as just saying I have _________ tires, rather than "yO, my R1M$ iZ Wr4PP3D".

Real estate sign, or old pallet on that cross?

turboDA6 07-18-2007 12:22 PM

Re: pics from a local comp

lol we can make a huge cross out of 6x6 if u want. as long as u hold it, and ill light it.

u kno i dont ever be on honda tech, so if it strikes u as honda techish. then u needa stay off honda tech son

i could say "my rims are 17x9 and i have 215/45/17 tires on them"

or i could say "17x9 wrapped with 215/45s"

u would know there tires, and they are literally wrapped with them.

or i could say "my 17x9 shoes have 215/45 soles on em" ?

hello?
