picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

so a guy posted them for sale on a local forum, for 110 picked up, so i said 100. he said they only had about 3 passes down the track and he wasn't in to imports any more and just wanted them gone. well, he just got back in town yesterday so i met up with him to check them out, i didn't expect them to be as good as he described, i figured he was bs'ing about only having a couple passes. so, here they are (next to my new hoosiers, i was gonna get rims for the hoosier's, but spent some of the money on the dr's).

205/45/15, i'm gonna rock them on the street for every day driving and of course the slicks for the track, although i am gonna try the dr's at the track tomorrow since i don't have the slicks mounted yet. i was a little sketchy about them being kind of 'low pro' only being a 45 series, but they're actually a hair bigger than my 195/50's and that's not even mounted and inflated. sticker's not even wore down ;D

lol, i'm almost scared, that's a lot of tire. i was gonna get some lenso's, but i can't justify spending that much on two rims that only get mounted once a week for a couple hours at the most. i'll prolly just go with these from independ racing wheels, for 56 bucks each (in black with the red lip) http://www.irwheel.com/fourorfivebolt.htm

Re: picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

i've heard mixed results about them, but a couple people that i know run them and cut 1.9-2.0 60's with them. nobody heats up dr's like they're suppose to, every time i've seen my boys boil them down, they cut good 60's, and you best believe i'm not scared to roast off a 100 dollar set of tires. i'll have results on them tomorrow evening.

i found them on ebay and ended up getting them for 270 shipped, normally, they're about 160 each plus shipping for that size, so i saved around 100 bucks.

yeah, but you can still go out and have fun without investing in to some serious tires, street tires just aren't even any fun any more. i never race on the street unless it's from at least a 40mph roll on, and i'll never be caught going down the track again on street tires. well, actually, drag radials are street tires, so i guess i will go down the track once or twice on 'street' tires.

that's what i like to hear. i'd be happy as hell with a 1.95 60' with these, should be good for some mid to low 12's if i can keep my 60' under 2.0

Re: picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

wow, i got these mounted yesterday, and they hook extremely well on the street. i haven't dumped the clutch with them, but just from a regular launch, winding out the gears, 1st and 2nd break loose just a little up top, but third doesn't break loose at all any more, i haven't even heated them up at all, i'm talking about normal driving :D

Re: picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

555r>bfg drag radial>mt drag radial.Thats the way i put it.My "click" of friends have used all three and the mt has had the best results on our cars.

accordepicenter 05-12-2005 09:21 AM

Re: picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

then isnt it 555r<bfg drag radial<mt drag radial

projekteg 05-12-2005 09:24 AM

Re: picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

i would never drive the mt dr's on the street, or the hoosier dr's, i personally have no idea how those things got dot approved. the bfg's are a little better than the 555r's, but don't last very long. the nitto's are good for almost 15k miles, and have a better tread design than any of the others, and since these are my daily driver tires, i'd rather have these than the bfg's if it decided to start raining while i was on the road :-\ if i can drive to the track, cut a 1.9 without changing tires and be able to do some street racing other than a third gear roll, i'm happy :)

Re: picked up some nitto 555r's for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!

You mean the MT ET Streets? Those are pretty nice.

the nitto's are good for almost 15k miles
maybe if you drive like sinister
