Picked up a new 240 for 550 dollars *update with new pics @ bottom*

91 240sx SE, so it has the LSD diff, has SE rims with like 25% tread, engine has 36 miles on it but the rings friend and the headgasket got toasted, the guy put 36 miles on a brand spankin new engine without water in the radiator and toasted it, the car is salvage title it as hit in the rear but the damage isnt too bad, its 5 speed and the interior is decent, although that doesnt matter since its getting completely ripped out.

Re: Picked up a new 240 for 550 dollars

yup yup, ima rip this engine out, throw some forged pistons in, reuse the bearings and crap, resurface the head and put it into my friends 240 and boost the crap outta the engine, But as for this car, its getting the VG30deTT 300zx twin turbo swap. all the tt crap will be ditched for a single turbo setup since the twin doesnt fit, gonna have to custom some mounts a bit farther forward and get a custom driveshaft, weld up some manifolds and plumbing and such and it should be done, im aiming for atleast 375 hp on stock injects, and 500on nismo 555cc's.

sounds like a mean plan.....but is all that work worth it.....just seems like it would cost alot thats all new motor new mount location single turbo set up and what not just seems like it would be alot of money for 375 or 500 hp

Re: Picked up a new 240 for 550 dollars

i could go sr20, like everyone else in the world, but me personally i like low end torque, and 3.0l of displacement has just that, and being different and doing a uncommon swap is more than enough reason to do it. Also i have owned 2 300zx tt's so i know the wiring down to a tee so that is not a problem at all.

Nice score. Those are getting hard to find in decent shape.

Re: Picked up a new 240 for 550 dollars

If you like the torque why not just stick with a KA24DE and turbo that, theres plenty of torque to be had, and with some nice internals and management, you can make a dyno chart that need to be printed vertically on three pieces of paper to map all the power

what happened to the other one you just got? ???

I almost picked up one of those, white nice exterior and interior. Clean title, new tranny, i think it had a rebuilt engine, electricals overhauled, he wanted 1300, I was only willing to pay a grand. I kinda wish I got it though, but then again I'm glad I didn't cause I ain't got no money! :'(

I hate you

Good luck with the VG!

Very nice! Clean too! Sounds like you've got the plan all worked out too! Think you'll have any problems with finding a VG in the area?

i still have the other 240, its a 89 and its an auto matic, i was gonna swap it but i found this goodass deal so i had to jump on it, and i still have the Z aswell but im putting it back together and selling it.

And as for finding a VG, theres this place that is about 45 minutes from me that has cheapass prices on 300zx jdm engines, im getting a engine/ trans for 1500, then i'll need the wiring harness for 350, ecu i already have, piping n ----, etc etc, but for the most part that is most of what i need, i will be tuning it with z control, which is like uberdata for Z's

I began stripping the car out and found out how much more of a deal this car was, it comes with the 500 dollar viper alarm that has remote start, it has 4 sony xplode speakers that are in damn near new condition, comes with some type of 640 watt amp and all the wiring in order to run a sub. Im selling the complete stripped interior for a total of about 200-275 dollars. All the speaker ---- and the alarm is going in my other 240sx. Looks like this car was really a great great deal. Damn i sure do get lucky sometimes, some of you remember that built sohc that had crower i beams and arias pistons , direct port nitrous kit w/o bottle, ported TB and aem cam gear with a p28 ecu for 175bucks. yes be jelous ;)

Is that a hoe in your car? I never thought you'd manage to get another hoe in your car besides yourself.

Good job.

so you've stripped it, now what? Are you going to rock a single seat metal box, or are you putting in any new form of "the cushy" stuff

man oh man, nice find you -----. wanna do something different? then pick another chassis... vg swap is cool but you only make it herder on ur self in the long run. but i guess you kno about the motor already so do as you please. nice find either way. sell that auto crap n try to enjoy the vg powered 240sx. ive seen plenty vid's of 240's with vg swaps n i wasn't to impressed. but a 375whp vg'd 240 should move a bit... keep us posted you nut

man stick with the KA dual cam or even the single. The VG is hard to work on in the 300zx engine bay, much less a 240's bay. KA's got torque and a good cast iron block. I guess it'll be cool if you dont wanna go around corners and just wanna drag. Let us know how it goes.

scottsi 02-11-2006 10:41 PM

Re: Picked up a new 240 for 550 dollars *update with new pics @ bottom*

The VG has so much over the KA, to begin with .6 liters, stock internals that can handle 600-700hp, and stock 300hp/tq out of the box. It will be a drag car, im aiming to have the car weigh no more than 2700lbs, the weight of hotrex's pigtegra without him in it. On stock injectors i will be pushing 14-15psi on my precision turbo ( S trim 6031 .70 compressor and t3 .63 exhaust housing.) whichi think will max around 450hp, maybe 500 550 if i really push it, im not exactly positive but we will see. The car will be very very front heavy as the VG block is iron and heavy as ----, im trying to go this weekend and pick up the engine/ trans, hopefully have the stock crap pulled before the end of the week and within 2 weeks have the mounts setup to hold the allmighty vg in the s13 crossmember. Stock injector goal is 350tq atleast and nismo 555cc goal is 450lbs of torque atleast, torque wins races, hp sells cars.
