Same song an dance as with any other former territory. Some people living there still want to be with the old country. So you have some unrest. Russia is all to happy to take more land back when it is that easy. Half the battle would be winning over the people, half of that is already done in a former soviet state like Georgia.

Georgia also controls some important energy pipelines to the west.

Ex-KGB putin still longs for the days of Russia being a super-power.

Why would you even bother asking this question?? Who cares "WHY" it would become nuclear. The fact is, Russia does have nuclear weapons, and who knows what kinda ------' idiots over there are in control of that ----. I don't think Russia(or any other country) is too keen on the idea of invading the U.S. If they really wanted to bring the pain to the U.S., they'd probaly just push the button.
