This is funny, you can legaly buy a tax stamp for weed in 20 states. I guess these guys still have their state tax stamp acts from the 30's in there.

These were the same tax stamps that Timothy leary got repealed in 69, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1937_Marijuana_Tax_Act The 1970 act lists Weed LSD and X as lower harm than alcohol and tobacco. Weed i get but how the ---- is LSD NOT harmful.

If they were enacted in the 30's then replaced with new ones in the 70's they would still stand in the 90's. that's true.

It's ridiculous that the government will tax you for something that's illegal, and if you don't pay the taxes they can charge you for more crimes. How can you tax an illegal substance? ::)

They might as well make you get a DUI License and charge you with more crimes if you don't have the license when you get a DUI :1

Thats exactly what Tleary did. so on a federal level thats teh case but states can sorta say what they want. So these states probably just never changed their laws after the case in 69.

just like how in Cali its decriminalized and you can get a prescribtion for it, local police wont bust you but they will cooperate with Feds who will bust the organization selling it. Federal Law superceeds State.

probably a little late on this response but WTF?

he is a FORMER competing Olympic athlete....not currently competing. For those that condem his actions, do you lead lives that are so perfect that you have nothing better to do than critique and judge what other people you have never met do on their own time in the privacy of their own god damn home?

The only thing you REALLY know about almost anybody with "celebrity" status is what the media spoon feeds you.

He was clean when he was competing. He isn't competing currently so the only laws he is breaking is simple possession.

And another thing, "he needs to realize what he represents, role model, ect. ect. ect."
Shouldn't he have some input on what he is perceived to be or do you prefer to not have your illusions of a real-life super hero
shattered by a good old fashion reality check?

Why should a would be "role model" strive to fit into some kind of mold in which he/she perceives that society wants them to be? And why does society condemn those people that dont? I'll tell you why...

Americans as a whole AREN'T HAPPY UNLESS WE ARE BEING SOLD AND FED BULLSHIT to coddle our pretentious, judgmental, arrogant and self righteous attitudes. I include myself in that statement because no matter how hard you try or what kind of person you are, if you grew up in America you cannot help but be this way at times even if you don't realize it.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, take a year or two off, travel the world near and far, then you will have a far more accurate and balanced perception of reality.
