PC help, WTF Is My Computer Loading

Ok, this is hard to explain, I recently formated due to a virus, so my computer is clean, the same windows program along with the other programs were installed that I had before the format, nothing has changed.

What happens is sometimes I'll be chilling on HMT or other websites or even have nothing active but just the desktop, and the ------- Hour Glass thing will appear by the cursor as if I was loading something, yet nothing is loaded, the performance is still the same, I can still click on stuff and open/close things while this hour glass is there, the only reason i'm bitching about this is it is getting annoying, it stays on for as long as 15 seconds then goes away, then comes back after a while.

I did a scan, everything turns out perfect, what could I do to find out why its doing this.

Turn off windows cacheing or whatever its called, someone else here will know what I'm talking about.

Default by windows it's on, I couldn't burn a DVD without getting buffer underrun errors because it was stealing a lot of my cpu usage

edit: Just remembered, it's called "Window indexing service" I believe..

When it 'hour glasses' go to the task manager and check to see what is hogging up your cpu usage.

Check to see what programs you have running in your startup. Look at the registry settings too. Check under current version run then 'run' if you know what I mean...rough day at work and I don't feel like explaining. sorry. :S

we ran Microsoft Anti Spyware at school when it first came out and it said that Firefox was a "terminally fatal program" or someshit and that it "needed to be removed immediately" ::)

Whats your setup? old or newer computer? what OS? if its xp go to control panel>system>advanced>performance>and check your page filing, should be 1 and 1/2 times you ram, also check memory usage in the same area should be on programs.

alot of the times anti-spyware software wont solve the problem . spyware is made to look more like an actual application than a virus. some of these spyware/virus programs from porn sites, mp3, etc can be pretty tricky to remove. my brother in law always gets them on his pc, i end up going over to reformat my inlaws pc. you may have to reformat your pc. you have to be carefull with the sites you go to becuz windows just plain sucks.
i whould recommend not using nortin anti virus. try using AVG anti-virus. its totally free, and they update it regularly. ive been running this setup on my pc for a few years now flawlessly. scan your pc with the avg to clean it up. if that doesnt do the trick. then i reccomend some file digging, or reformat.

Do you guys not read? I formatted a few days ago, never really went on any porn sites nor did I download anything, this problem started from day 1 after the format.

I ckecked the page filing, looks good, I have a gig of ram and its set at 1532 MB

---- it, I gave up, I just switched all the cursors under the mouse setting to the same thing, which is the medium white arrow, now I cant see it loading and no annoying hour glass pops up. Problem solved I guess O0
