Paypal question
Ok, so I sold my ZEX on ebay, and someone with a lower feedback won, no negative tho. So he sends me payment via paypal like an hour after the auction. It says hes unvarafied and when I got the email, it said it wasnt able to varify the address with sender ID on hotmail. I transfered the funds to my bank account, so once it transfers should it be all good? or does it seem like a scammer?

Re: Paypal question
eh, I'd be very weary of that. I just recently had a paypal claim filed against me. It was denied because I was right and item was accurately described. For high dollar items I do NOT ship to unconfirmed address. Has to be confirmed. Since he is unverified and the address is unconfirmed, that means he could have used someone else's credit card. I dunno. It's up to you, what's his feedback rating?

Re: Paypal question
Here's the thing, these are the 2 ways I could see he got the money in his account and still be unverified.
1| He used a credit card 2| Someone sent him money and it was enough to pay for it The problem is, if he used (1), he would have a CONFIRMED address since he would have had to link his credit card onto PayPal and thus the billing address becomes the confirmed address. That's what I have a problem with, I believe on your PayPal transaction page, it says that the item is NOT eligible for the "seller protection" thing right? I dunno about that. I mean if it's a lot of money, I wouldn't take the chance, I'd refund the money and then tell him to use a confirmed address or send a postal money order, NOT a bank/cashier's check. And if he doesn't want it, selling it to the next highest bidder at a slight loss but they have a better rep, would be worth it. |
Re: Paypal question
Paul whenever you accept any payment from paypal, it MUST be (well for ur protection) from a verified user AND the payment MUST BE made with a CONFIRMED SHIPPING ADDRESS, and make sure you paid for an online " trackable" tracking number when you ship it out.
or else no matter what you do, the buyer can still reject the payment withint 90 days, EVEN after you transfer the funds into your bank account. |
Re: Paypal question
Yeah man sorry, didn't even think about that. I haven't used ebay/paypal for 2 years bc my friend was selling dvds of a concert on it, they banned the account for "copyright infringement." When it's banned it wouldn't let him see the addresses of all the people that paid, so he couldn't ship the dvds. So everyone of course reported it and paypal ended up with about $250 of money that wasn't theres... shitheads.
Like the others said, for a high value item make sure they're verified. |
Re: Paypal question
good points guys, ima gonna put the money back into my paypal and refund it to him and tell him he needs to send a money order
|
Re: Paypal question
The money being sent to my bank acct is still pending, is there a way for me to cancel the request to send it to the bank to keep it in paypal so i can refund this -------?
|
Re: Paypal question
just click refund, you won't even lose any fees, 100% refund.
Paypal can pull money out of your bank account at any time, why I have a special account that I keep at a low (under $25) balance. |

Re: Paypal question
just wow i cant beleive how stupid some of u guys are, but to paul it only says unconfirmed because hes prob a new user of paypal, its nothing bad, its just that with a confirmed address they say your covered under some bullshit buyers coverage, dont worry about any of it, as long as you have a tracking number your all good, he can make a claim with paypal saying u scammed him or whatever, but the only proof youd need is input your tracking number and it automatically denys his claim. i wouldnt sweat it, once the money is in your account, paypal cannot touch it, its illegal without your concent.

Re: Paypal question
WWW.PAYPALSUCKS.COM
Go there for an hour or so and none of you will use paypal again. They are by far the worst payment company out there if you are a seller. No matter what you will get screwed. Just open up your own merchant account and process CC orders yourself. You control everything and don't leave it in the hands of the idiots at paypal. |
Re: Paypal question
Granted he is a new user, i just dont want to be scammed from someone using a stolen CC or paypal account, but like I said both his address on paypal and ebay match

Re: Paypal question
This is a lot of discussion about nothing.
Ship to a confirmed address only. You ship to teh confirmed address with a confirm/tracking # and you are fine no matter what happens. |
Re: Paypal question
no your wrong, your pretty much fine once the money is in your account, confirmed or unconfirmed gaypal cannot retake the money from you out of your bank account, its illegal.

If you take the money out Paypal will "debit" it from your Paypal account. Refuse to pay it and all the accounts and #'s associated with that account are blacklisted from Paypal. |
Re: Paypal question
yea well i speak from experience, ive had people try to get their money back right after ive shipped stuff, once the money was in my account there wasnt and hasnt been ---- they can do, go ahead and make the paypal account negative, wow collections, ---- paypal its all part of the wonderful cycle to screw people out of their money and make a little on the side while they are doing it, i sell my lapto for 850 and wow a 25 ------- dollar gaypal fee, just stupid ----.
