Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
yea paypal are bastards
I had to confirm social security go through a credit ceck fax documentation all kinds of BS |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
Money Orders are always an alternative.
Wire transfers work, but they will charge you a pretty big fee at most banks. |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
i wouldn't use money order, they are not secure, atleast w/ paypal you can dispute and get your funds back
|
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
ive never had a problem with paypal, but yes their fees are gay only thing you can do is make sure when you sell something have the person paying pay the 3% fee
|
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
I've never had a problem either, there's nothing really better out there. You'll find the same BS with everything else.
|
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
Paypal is safe and easy. Been usin it forover 4 years now and its solid. There fees imo arent that bad conserding how else would you be able to accept a credit card payment with just verfying your bank account. If you want something different you will have to get a merchant account. Also what in the world would they ask for you to fax things. Id like to here this in detail has Im intrested. Also why are you still part of this site.

Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
Hes not lying about it. When your account becomes limited, which it WILL eventually, they make you go through so much crap to get it reinstated. Once you comply with all their requests, more info is then needed.
You can find alternatives here. http://www.paypalsucks.com/options.shtml also a great site for info on paypal. www.paypalsucks.com While I'm here, Chris, your TB was shipped out via priority today. Let me know if there are any problems when you get it |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
My papal is still limited.. finally got my money out of that account... I need another secure alternative... hmmm local sales, and cash.. only... lol
|
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
File complaints with the better business bureau, federal trade commission, attorneys general office of nebraska, attorney generals office of california. You WILL see results if you do this. Paypal will release your funds unless you've committed some kind of fraud

Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
There are so many reasons of why you could become limited and pretty much all of them suck
Say you log in to your account at the library and then someone else with a limited account logs in on the same computer. Your account will get it now because you are "linked" to an account that needs issues resolved. Same ISP You receive stolen funds even though you know NOTHING about it. YOUR sale was honest, but the money you were paid with was from a scam or some type of fraud. I used paypal for YEARS and never had a problem until recently. I have since cleared up all of the issues by contacting the above mentioned places and I use paypal as little as possible now. |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
---- Paypal. Somebody should start a new payment system and charge 50% less than Paypal. You would be a gabillionaire in no time.

Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
Paypal fucked me, I got reverse scammed twice and paypal went in the scammers favor and I had to pay a collections company 450 bucks :7
|
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
PayPal is both good and bad.
Some alternatives I have used are ikobo.com and money orders. I used ikobo for an international sale. It's pretty cool. You get a debit card to access your monies. |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
IMO the 3% fee is acceptable and you shouldnt make the buyer pay that for you. You willingly upgraded your account and knew the fees would be in place. Every company in the world who takes credit cards, has to pay a fee on them. thats what you get for taking them. I dont take credit payments. If I do, I have a friend with a account that takes credit and I tell them to send him teh money+fees since I dont take credit on my paypal account. One time I didnt tell him to pay me the fee and paypal charged like 8% or some ----. I Was pissed, but oh well.

It sure is a write off. Along with everything else in Business :) |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
Don't forget that paypal charges fees on a payment that is NOT funded by a credit card and that is already in somebodys account.
Say you send me $10.00 via credit card. Paypal charges a fee. I know send the remainder to someone else who has an upgraded account. Paypal charges a fee on the SAME dollars they already charged it on. If you keep sending that $10.00 down the line it will keep losing value and eventually be $0.00 for the user and paypal has gotten ALL of it. After the intial fee on the $10.00 the money is in the system and should no longer be subject to fees, but it doesn't work that way with paypal. Its a COMPLETE ripoff |
Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
well, thats why you withdraw the money to your bank account first. Essentially you are paying someone $10 minus 3% when you just send it from your paypal account. I keep my paypal at a zero balance so I dont get screwed over some kind of way.

Re: PAYPAL alternatives?
lets see, I charge $10 S&H for the past 12 or so items I sold on Ebay. Shipped in flat rate USPS boxes, $7.70 + .45 delivery comfirmation, so the extra $1.85 paid the Paypal fees and gas to the post office.
Think about it, Ebay and Paypal is a win-win for them. Seller pays listing fee and part of winning bid, then pays paypal fee when payed. I sold 12 boxes of car magazines on Ebay that would have been tossed out, made about $140-150 after all fees. BTW boxes are free from USPS.......... |
