Painted up a spark plug cover so you could all call me a ricer (pics)
Well I got a spark plug cover for the gs-r head, and it was in really rough shape, so I decided to paint it.
Strolling through baxters, i found a paint called 'anodizit' from plasti-color. I wanted to try it out because I am thinking about anodizing the lip of my wheels when i paint it, using this stuff. So I figured why not try it out on the plug cover. In the end it looks good but I don't think I want it on my wheels.
So here it goes...
Started with some sanding...took it down smooth as I could get with 400 grit...
This is the paint, its got a base coat, and a color coat, or you can use just the color coat on bare metal. This stuff is acrylic based, so if it aint sanded smooth and cleaned and dried, it aint gonna stick, be warned.
First base coat applied
First base coat sanded
Second base coat applied
Second base coat sanded. Now it says to do two, but I saw some significant flaws after the second one so I sanded it again and opted for a third base coat.
Last base coat all done thumb up!
First color coat, again it recommends two, and I did three...
Coat #2
Well I thought I was gonna do three, but at the very end i dropped it and had to catch it with my hand...I was pissed, I don't usually put this much effort into making something look really quality when i rattle can it.
So I resanded and applied another couple coats
You can still see the bad spot, but not on the car...so who cares.
And then I put it on the car, and realized everything else is very filthy, haha, gotta get on doing some engine bay cleaning I guess.

I used to paint model cars, and crap and you know what helps, i know this is going to sound silly, but if you place the can in a bowl of piping hot water for like 5mins, and then shake the ---- out of the can and spray... it comes out way better
