or use a pernamnemennemnnmennt marker :P |
Re: Paint on intercooler
Mask it or use a template, a cardboard cutout will work fine too.

dark colors don't shed heat as well either, same thing with a black car in the sun. |
Re: Paint on intercooler
its not going to make more than say a .05% difference if you paint the thing a light coat of flat black...

if he is going to write somthing on his intercooler and asking about how to do that simple stuff (no offense to that guy) but he probly aint goin for a 9 sec car. so no big deal in my opinion. im gonna do it just to see who i can make believe i dont have a turbo. some stupid ricer kids hopfully. it will be good for a laugh. oh and i am gonna paint it all black i forgot to add.

Re: Paint on intercooler
I am most likely going to paint mine completely black, I'm not really going to be building a drag car here, it will be a daily driven beater, so I can finally garage my evo and stop putting so many miles on it. I was just curious if people masked those lines to get them straight, and couldn't really think of what I would put on my intercooler anyways. Thanks for all the input guys.

Re: Paint on intercooler
Black attracts light not heat, get your ---- straight. heat is the result of black attracting light, but having a silver intercooler or a black intercooler makes no significant difference when air is passing between the fins at 60mph

I'm flat blacking my ---- because I'd like to keep my car from being stolen, thanks. Stealth vs hp per psi volumetric efficiency LIES - there can be only one.

Re: Paint on intercooler
Flat black will radiate heat better than a shiny colour will. It will also take up more radiated heat from other radiating sources. A black car will heat up faster in the sun but it will also cool down faster once in the shade.
Most heat sinks for passive cooling are aluminized flat black for that reason. It doesn't matter as much if you have airflow though. |
