Default packaging for connecting rods

i posted this in the tuner toys connecting rod thread, but i dont think anyone was looking.........

i ordered a set "i-beam all motor rods" from spark racing over on honda-tech in mid-december and just recieved them today. putting there shitty customer service aside, i am a little worried about how they were packaged. they were basically just dropped in a box and covered with some crumpled up paper. i've never ordered a set of aftermarket rods before, so i'm unsure if this is acceptable or not. it seems to me that they probably got knocked around pretty good in the shipping process. the rods themselves were covered in a grease type stuff and wrapped in plastic.

also, the rods came with arp bolts, but i was expecting some type of assembely lube along with them. not a real biggie, but is the lube something that generally comes with the bolts?

thanks in advance

most metal products are covered in oil so they dont surface rust, as far as shipping goes shame on them ho's.

yeah, the grease didn't bother me, all my cams have always come like that.

i actually talked to a few other people that oredered the rods from spark racing and they recieved them the same way. i was starting to be a dick to guy at spark racing, so i at least know that i didn't get any "special consideration" when my set was being sent out.

any other opinions?

You pay for what you get?

Example.. I thought I got a smoking deal on some Venom 950cc injectors from Venom, ya they were cheaper than RC but when I got them, they were packaged like ---- and 1 injector died a week later. The last time I bought injectors I said ---- it, I'll spend the extra money and get the RC injectors. They came individual wrapped all nice and neat, a nice flow sheet per injectors, all new seals. It was just something nice to see. Hopefully the rods will be alright. I'm testing a set of H beams out.

i'll agree w/ the "you get what you pay for" statement. my right to gripe isn't to big on this one considering what i paid for these things. regardless, a little extra assurance is comforting.

abaz, i'll have to follow your project and see how the h-beams work out for you. i'm doing a realitivly low budget nitrous build up and have pretty much come to peace with the fact that this motor probably wont live too long........ i guess i'll just have to wait and see.

EK got 750's, I bought 950's for my ls/vtec, and when 1 died I ended up just giving the rest to turbohf.

D-series Nitrous build eh? sounds cool.. I'm doing a all motor NA build on a D-series, should be pretty cool when I'm done. ETA this weekend.
