Owned Ringlands, Compression results are in.

Went to the track tonite, decided to try out the slicks.

First run, I was dead even with a Supercharged Nova, top of 4th gear i feel a huge drop in power just before i cross the line.

He ran a 13.6, I was barely a bit behind his door when i crossed the line.

Ringland ownage. haha.

so what did ya run?

Oh, and for the record, you have to own 5 diff. pistons on different occassions to get dirty, leed style haha

I dunno. When the ringlands gave, i dropped to about the door of the Nova, and he landed a 13.6.

Get my slip....everything is filled out except for trap speed and 1/4 ET.

Man, atfirst I didnt believe Johnny when he said the timer's were messed up at PIR, but no ------- #'s on your slip. That sucks

yeah PIR's ---- is buggy. 60' and all the 1/8th mile info was there, just no final #'s

I said almost ;)

I would never doubt the potential of a twin 5.0.

yah the power to boil water!

it would beat anyone 40 degree water to 260 in one pull ------ WHAT!!!! beat that sucka

i took the thermostat out, it was fucked up or something. doesnt over heat now. but before it would go from barely on the gauge to 260 degree after a 2nd gear pull lmao!

i took her out after i pulled the thermo stat, did like 6-7 pulls lmao. it didnt heat up at all. gunna roll no thermostat straight gangsta style.

still at 5.5psi and with the full punch of the 12:1 fmu. bustin sideways in 2nd side to side. it was pretty fun.

How the heck do you all blow motors? Maybe my engine has top secret forged rods/pistons that look like stock rods/pistons? I just think it's because I bought my car from a girl and it only had 64k miles... but I do beat it pretty hard, so I dunno...

youve got the magic tune O0 or some kind of magical z6 with no cast imperfections

i ran my y7 at 13 psi forever no probs...but the b16 killed four pistons on 14 psi

time to go assess the damage.

hahahahahahahahhaha

oh my ------- dear lord.

so here's the scoop. nothing will ever ever ever go smoothly for me, its such a ------- fact that its in the ------- encyclopedia.

I go outside to do a compression test. Run the test on the first cylinder, 155psi...Cylinder #1 owned for sure. Here's the fun of what happens next. I start unscrewing the compression tester from the cylinder, and the hose just twists. The compression tester is stuck in cylinder 1, and I cannot get it out.

Just ------- kill me. I'm getting a ------- geo. I never had problems with my metro.

Re: Owned Ringlands, and another problem now, go figure.

Fook you had a metro? Bet that got you no lovin. I soo know what you mean fook, i get my accord back together today, after ------ with the turbo and fixing all that ---- wrong, fix my manifold leak, swap oil pans to fix my oil drain leakage issue(S). Anyway, the first time i used an aftermarket oil pan gasket was today and wouldnt you know it, the bitch leaks soo bad i cant even drive it. I didnt have my honda oil pan gasket because it broke when i took it off (i reused it about 3-4x though) im just pissed. Oh yea, on a 20 mile trip, i lost about 3.5 qts of oil... just nasty.

its not that great considering it was 200psi a week ago.

anyways, compression test results are in:

last week 200-200-200-200

this week 155-110-170-190

did SOME damage to all 4!!!! take that shitty casting! O0

well im up to 7 pistons and 3 occassions, thats close.

What do you think caused the low compression... bad tune?

too much pressure on the pistons, happens with any tune

eg me

no the tune was ------- dialed and pretty conservative. I think I may have overdone it on the boost a bit, wastegate was peaking 14psi at spoolup, and bleedin off to 12, but I saw some 13psi action at the top of 4th.

oh well, i think for now im gonna toss in another set of oem pistons and then start building my other block.

Filled Z6, scat or eagle rods, and roller waves...sounds good to me.

I did a compression test and I got the hose stuck in there too!

I used a bunch of lube too...but wtf...are you just supposed to torque it with the hose? and unscrew it with the hose? Cuz it seems pretty shitty

I always have this problem with my harbor freight compression tester.
The outside part is aluminum so it soaks in heat and expands super fast.
Then, the rubber part has nothing to clip onto.

So I have to test compression on a cold engine, but that yields results about 30psi lower.

i recently did a compression test on my d16y8... 180 190 185 210 dont know why that 210 is there but whatever.. boost was 6 psi for like a month.... now im runnin 10 psi daily, lets see how long this lasts.

Re: Owned Ringlands, Compression results are in.

well... fook 14psi spikes are a little high, good thing pistons/rods for that motor are cheap and easy to get. Hope you get it back together soon

where do you buy compression testing kits? i haven't ever really looked, but i don't remember seeing them anywhere

u dont need a kit just a tester.. try ur local autozone

Re: Owned Ringlands, Compression results are in.

the threads on my head in cylinder 1 are messed up for some strange reason, thats why it was stuck.

I had trouble getting the spark plug back in too.

I don't know that 14 psi necesarily killed your motor, but if you're still running a stock map sensor, the lack of any control past 11 psi over fuel and ignition sure will. :-\

you can tune the last column on the map a little rich. either way i didn't really have what would probably be enough fuel/timing to cover the 13psi creepage, i was at 19* and 12.0:1 flat AFR's. No biggie, on to the next.

I bought mine for $10 at the local Harbor Freight.
They only get stuck when the engine is warm.
If it gets stuck, let ---- cool down and then it comes out easy.

You just gotta let that aluminum retract to normal size.
