there was a guy on here a while ago with a turbo'd sho. It was pretty quick if I remember correctly, and they are pretty stout engines. Though I haven't had good experiences with fords lately

Not much Ford about that car other than the name.

Buddy had one and liked it. Then he crashed it and that was the end of that.

220HP stock, and are suprisingly somewhat light for a 4 door. Parts are expensive, but like anything.. w/ ARP headstuds, and a MHG, those engines are extremely durable, and are made to take alot of abuse. The 1989 SHO is actually the fastest year of the SHO, due to its lighter weight. And the newer body style SHOs with the V8s are homo and had alot of probs. The 89-95 SHOs are neat little sleepers.

Re: opinoins: taurus sho...

yeah its a 91 with the plus pachage so it has a power sun roof and heated/ power seats and leather int its not a bad car and yes they say with just pistons the motor can hold up tp 750hp wich i will never puch it that far maybe a exaughst system and a nitrous kit see if i can get it to the 13s on slick as long as the clutch holds..oh and i made this post just to see if some of you guys had any experiance with them cause i dont know much about it other then its a pretty quick familly car..

There was a badass one on here years ago. I think they may have gotten it into the tens with a big ass Mack truck turbo or something. The problem was the axles they would only last a few passes before the cv's ground themselves into dust.

It was my buddy's car. It traped like 118mph on street tires without even making a full pass and definitely pulled like a freight train. That car was a ton of fun at the street races.

The major flaw was the car kept blowing out 3rd gear. The trans just couldn't hold the power even when it was running a quaife LSD. With some different gears it would have ran low 11's without breaking a sweat.

friend had a 95. they are sweet cars and can take tons of power without even taking the vc's off. but yea trannys are garbage. the v8 ones are gay and auto

i used to have a 93, and now i have a 90. they are great cars. the diff is weak, so try not to do a bunch of burnouts. the auto cars are boring, but the 5spd cars are a ton of fun. also check out shoforum.com

great fun, and if there was a way to swap that little v8 in to the 89-95 body with a 5speed it would be awsome
then boost it to arround 12psi and run 11's on street tires all day without breaking a sweat

also i had an olds aurora (4.0L doch v8 rated at 240hp and 260ft-lbs) man those things are quick for being a big heavy family sedan (tho it was auto it had a manual shift gait that made it a little more fun) and those auroras sound sick with pipes http://youtube.com/watch?v=UvmCoYHh1tU

what little v8? the one from the dog late model SHOs?

the one in the "fast" SHOs are v6s

and its DOHC DUAL OVERHEAD CAM. NOT DOCH YOU DUMBFUCK.

the v8 in the late model SHO is transversely mounted, as well as the v6 in the older ones

whats your problem, wow i typed dohc quickly and put doch. sooooo sorrry mister man don't hurt me

also as for being small, yes compared to most american v8's the one in the sho was small only 3.4L

also people keep saying there were 2 generations one from 89-95 the the 96+ (the 88-95 was the 3.0L v6, when stick and 3.2L when auto and the 96+being 3.4L v8)
but 89 was not the first year of the sho it was actually the 3rd model year and there were 3 generations of sho's not 2
1st gen-1989-1991 3.0L yamaha engine with a 5speed as the only tranny
2nd gen-1992-1995 with a 3.0l yamaha engine with the 5 speed and 3.2L yamaha engine with the auto (both had 220hp as before but the 3.2 had 215ft-lbs over the 3.0's 200ft-lbs)
3rd gen-1996-1999 with a 3.4L ford v8 (from what i understand it is an engine that had been used in the larger family sedans overseas instead of the 5.0L v8) it was rated at 235hp and 230ft-lbs and was automatic only
also all the sho's came with dohc engines with 4 valves per cyc
the v6's had a 7000rpm rev limiter whereas the 3.4l v8 had a 6500rpm rev limiter (tho the auto tranny shifted at 6200rpm in fully auto mode)
all of the sho engines were verry detuned (i have seen 3.0L yamaha sho engines running up to 8000rpm on stock internals and with just cams and thinner head gaskets to raise compression i have seen 350crank hp and it was not overly radical to where it could not be street driven nor a hand grenade)

and random strike, chill the ---- out go get some ----- or somthing

Johnny's just cornfuzed 'cause of your relatively noob status, and the fact that you might know as much about cars as he does(if not more). This cornfuzion automatically triggers Johnny natural instinct of assholism and faggotry.

yeah can say much for the previous owner hahah but yeah the car moves pretty ------- good i just dont know if i wanna keep it and then have to learn to work on it..and the way he drives leaves a lot of room for improvement he doesnt rev the car out so it could still be faster just being driven to its limits wich i will do hahaha
