Opinions and advice wanted

I might be moving out of my current house and moving into a bigger, better house with a large garage. The downfall, I am getting a roommate. I can't figure out if this is a smart thing for me to be doing. I want a bigger garage and my bills are rediculous trying to pay them by myself. It would be nice to split the cost with someone, but at the cost of having to live with someone else. :-\ He's a good friend of mine and we have lived together before with no problems. He did kinda ---- me last time when he decided to quit his job and move to Nebraska. I got stuck with paying the entire rent payment along with the electric bill for a 4 story townhouse. :-X I don't see that happening again, so that's not really an issue. I just don't know if moving out of my secure home is such a good idea. I have lived here since it was built(about 2 years ago). I really need a bigger garage and the house we might be moving into has a garage big enough for me to drive into and turn around. ;D That would be nice.

Any words of wisdom? :-\

Keep in mind I have alot of bills to pay on my own and I would be cutting about $180 off my current bills and living in a larger house, with a badass garage. I'm getting sick of my neighborhood anyways. These ------- people are retarded and slowly, but surely turning it into a pile of ----. Everytime I go out to work on my car the guy across from me comes over and bugs the ---- out of me. He is always so ------- drunk you can't understand him and he doesn't shut up. He's like "Dude, ----, dude, ya know, ---- man, you gotta follow your goals and dreams, dude, ---- man, dude you gotta go for it man, dude, ya know, ----, you gotta do it man...blah blah blah" and I have no ------- idea what he is talking about. ??? He fights with imaginary people. No bullshit. I heard screaming and yelling one day so I came running out to see what was happening and he was yelling and fighting at the air. ???

I whould say go for it if ya had a reliable person to share it with, but if that dude dicked ya before i whould becareful, anyone else that u can stand to move in it with ya, that garage sounds bad ass though. if ya can do it, i say go for it.

Carnesd 04-23-2004 11:29 PM

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

I would say go for it as long as you know that you can trust this dude. I would love to have my own garage that I can work in all the time. But yeah, just make sure this guy isn't going to dip on you in a month, maybe keep some kind of backup plan in case he does. Change is exciting imo.

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

Yeah I think that guy is taking shrooms. Or some hypnotic drug. He isn't probably only drunk when he comes over to talk to you. I say if you can stand this guy and you think for sure that he isn't going to ---- you again then go for it. I had a room mate in school who thought he was a natzi. No ----. He shaved his head and everything. He had iron crosses in our living room and ---- that he made in high school art classes. Then when his car got broken in to he wanted to move out and then I told him that I didn't want to live with him he called his dad. He said he should "Work Me Over". But he didn't cuz he though of me as a friend. Awwwwww. go suck a dick steve. Sorry for stealing your thread.

Hey boost my man, Im sure youll make the right choice whatever you choose. Just understand that theres always going to be problems and crazy neighbors wherever you go. There might be a huge garage.. but a no working on cars policy in that neighborhood or some bullshit u know? Lastly saving $ and cutting costs is a really good thing.. Why cant you have a roomate where you live now? You can accidentally run over ur neighbor and put him out of his misery? Anyways whatever you choose, Hmt is here for you buddy

My best friend pulled that "I'm gonna move out now" ---- on one of our mutual friends because of his girlfriend???? Yeah, it was fucked up, but I think you should move in with him. He will be hesitant to ---- you over again, and if you ever need to leave him in the ditch you won't feel so bad because he already did it to you once. Things are in your favor here. ;D

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

180 dollar cut? I say go for it. This less bills you have to worry about. Plus a bigger and better home? you can't beat that. Just make sure you friend dont pull another fast one on you and make sure both your names is on the lease. If that goes well then your striaght. And make your you do donuts in the garage too ;D

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

It looks like the decision is obvious. You guys think alot like me. ;) I live in a 1 bed, 1 bath so a male roommate is out of the question. I doubt he would pull that ---- again, but I never expected it to happen in the first place. We get along great and we hangout together most of the time anyways. I'm probably going for it.

That one fucked up guy is only one of the people that bug me. The people across the street have lame ass kids that play music as loud as they can in their riced out pile of ---- cars. I think the only speakers they have are subs because that's all you hear all day/night long. They can't seem to figure out why the cops keep getting called. ------- morons... >:(

Thanks for telling me what I wanted to hear. :)

yeah man, what have you got to lose? your single and no kids, you get to take chances like that, even if you did get fucked, you can always find new room mates easily and actually i've found that the best room mates are the ones that you don't really know, cause they don't feel like the can get over on you b/c you've known them forever.

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

He's not smart enough to do anything technical like that. He doesn't even have a car, probably because he doesn't know how to drive. He loves sports though. Whenever he is watching a game he leaves his door wide open and ------- SCREAMS the entire time the game is playing. He acts like he is the ------- coach or something. "GO FOR IT, SHOOT IT, YEAH, NO DON'T DO THAT, NOW GO TO THE RIGHT, NO NOW SHOOT IT, NO PASS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, SHOOT IT, JUMP, OH MY GOD, GO FOR IT, YEAH, OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!"<<<at the top of his lungs. >:( ---- that bugs me. Close your ------- door if you're going to do that. I found a way to get him to shut it though. Fire up the Honda with an open header. He shuts his door real quick. 8)

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

All I read was the first post so I won't be biast with my answer because of something someone else posted. So that being said I would go for it. If that guy fucked you around another time with an apartment or house or however. I would just get his name put on the lease to rent. That way if he takes off it is still all on him, you can pick up and go without no troubles. I hope this isn't a double post :-X

Dr.Boost 04-24-2004 06:13 PM

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

His name will be on the lease, but it was on the last one too. :-\ I'm not real worried about that part. Just think, if he does move out, I have a giant garage all to myself. :D

One thing I am worried about is qualifying for the lease. The last guy I tried to get a house with was turned down because of his credit. They wouldn't even let him live with me. My buddy has some shaky credit, so I don't know. :-\ I could put it all in my name, but they are strict about knowing who is living in the house. It would look a bit funny trying to rent a 3 bedroom house for just myself.

how 'bout this: wait 4 years, I'll find a job in that tiny town you live in, I'll live there with you and I'll break your ---- when we try to work on your car. from you first post I can see that your mind is mostly made up, but you want us to bring something up to make you turn sharply in one direction or the other, that's not going to happen here on hmt, we dont' love the drama. Get the ------- house and quit being a bitch.

what's your current job anyways? if you're leasing houses you must be making decent cheddar.

I think I'm going to miss my privacy and peace and quiet. I won't miss the large bills and crackhead neighbors.

The garage is my main concern. My garage sucks. I can't open both doors when it's in the garage. If I have someone with me I have to let them out before I pull into the garage. That's ------- retarded. :-\

Plus, it's almost summer time and he has a boat, so we're going to be living like kings this summer. 8)

Don't get a roommate.. it's gonna be a lot of hasle. but, if financially helps you out then go for it.. but make sure you tell that person the rules. Don't eat my food and never ask, if i see that your not caring about keeping the utility bills down i'll charge you more, no parties unless you go by theme with me first, and if you wanna ----. be sure that i hit it first. and the number one thing is keep your ---- organized and clean. if you see a cigerate butt out side the door, have the common curdisy to pick that ---- up. not a pretty site when a chick comes over and see's a dirty house. then for sure she'll know your durty. capiche!!

ooooooooooooo i almost forgot. The most important part of this whole ----. Don't feel bad about any excuses that he gives you. Tell him up front when bills are due they are due. NO EXCEPTIONS. make sure he doesn't try to hold up for one week.. it will leed to more.. if he's late tell him that you'll lock the fucker out until he gets the money together.

Re:Opinions and advice wanted

lol, thanks for the good advice. I have lived witrh him for a few years before with no problems. The only reason we aren't still living together is because he bailed town and I moved into a 1bed. He's a good guy. He's kinda messy, and destroys ovens, and carpet.......----. :-\ We just have to set some rules. No shoes in the house is on top of the list. He is a mechanic so his shoes are ------- greasy.

Just today I was taking a test drive in the hatch and one of my neighbors came out of his ------- house to sit at the curb and yell ---- at me. I just bounced off the rev limiter and stared at him while he was trying to be a tough ass. ::) I tried to do a burnout, but I wasn't in gear. :-[

You can move in with me for the summer. I lucked out and got a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in downtown Penn State for $250 a month with no roomates. Its right across the street from Hooters and within walking distance of 4 bars. College chicks are easy and than you can just move back across country to avoid the bitches after they get knocked up...

Wow, $250 a month? I pay $495 for a 1 bed 1 bath. Hooters would be cool, and the easy college chicks would be cool too. I live within a block of like 7 bars right now. I'm going to miss that. :-\ I could get all shitty at the bar and either walk home or get a ride and in the morning(or afternoon)I could just walk across the block to pickup my car. Memories....... :'(
