Yea, so our good buddy Onyx (Wyatt) is stuck with his Z6 swap. It's not starting >:(

The ECU (PM6/OBD0) is getting power, all grounds are secure (contiunity beep) and main relay is clicking. He tried starting it by feeding the starter solenoid 12V directly and all it does is click. I suggested a little love tapping, but that didn't seem to work. Surely the starter isn't dead? We hung up with going to push start it by himself..poor guy, he needs some HMT love!

Here it is:

D16Z6 block/head, a6 intake, a6 exhaust, HF tranny (blows chunks). I set it up to act like a stock A6 but its not working! help! PLEASE!

If you put 12v directly to the starter solenoid and the car doesn't crank its a bad starter, or it's not meshiing correctly. Or the motor is locked up. and this is in the wrong forum.

Yea, he disconnected wht/blk wire and applied 12V directory and nada. Took starter off and tried to have it freewheel...nada. Mr. Starter took a dump!

stupid question...is the tranny ground connected?
did you connect power and ground directly to starter to test?

so the engine isnt turning over... and you put a positive on it.. then probably the starter.

Everything is grounded and i have tripple checked it all, the starter was replaced and i can hear the gear shoot out but it cannot push the motor over, i can hand turn the engine with no problems. the engine has 80k miles on it. I get to pull the fucker again tomorow and look to see what the ---- happened god damnit.

the weird thing is that the tranny slid together with no problem, i dont know this is very weird,the clutch works, there is no problem moving from gear to gear and it sits in netural ETC.. it SHOULD go but i dont know what the hell happened, this is the 15th swap i have dont and i havent seen this before. its jsut weird damnit.

so you did replace the stater? did you check to see if theres 12 volts to the starter terminal?

Only going on what I read you tried a starter it was bad after that you put another starter in there and it did the same thing....

did you test the other starter first? also did you use the right flywheel? if the motor turns by hand and you test the starter off the car and it is fine and you have a 12v signal from the switch in start position sound like you have another debunk starter or it is binding on the flywheel and not turning.....

teh flywheel is correct, to factory spec. the starter was out of a 93 civic EX known to work. infact after using it i put it back in the civic and it started right up.

battery. Not enough amps to spin the starter... try a KNOWN good battery.

If I saw this earlier I would have told you what was wrong.
It's your damnn battery
It happened to me 3 times and happened to a friend of mine I was helping.
I even replaced starters...nada ondly the selenoid was pushing and a constatn clicking sound from the relay's etc...
change the battery as crx88si said..not enough amppppssssss

problem fixed. replaced all the grounds with 4 gauge wire and grounded the starter with its own wire to the neg term. works now. damn cars...

So for all you non believers that a groung is a ground,let this be a lesson to ya.Bigger ground wires DO make a difference!!Its not just a groung.Its the other 1/2 of your electrical system.

and it cost me less than $15 for the 3 wires i bought with the ends on them. Cheap mod and it works. ill get picts as soon as i powerwash the engine area.. it needs it lol
