This one's for you Johnny!!

Few weekends ago I went to my G/f's family in southern ontario. Her uncle (his name is Bill) owns a 1970 Cutlass.

Specs (sort of, lol)

1970 Cutlass
455 Big block, over bored .020
Roller rockers, comp cam.
Custom rods and high compression pistons
over sized valves w/ springs
turbo 400 auto trans
3xx gears (???)
custom flow master exhaust w/ no cat, dual 3"
MSD box w/ coil.

I do have a short vid. nothing spectacular went to canadian tire and he got on it on the way home a little.
Some Mazda mx-6 w/ rims/paint actually tried to race.. it was such a joke..

ok.. on to tha pics!

Nice clean car overall, personally one thing i dislike (counts for most muscle car) is that wheel style is being severly overplayed in my opinion :X. Damn exempt vehicles with no cat's : (

<sarcasm>Cragar ss's overplayed in the domestic circuit? Naah. They've only been around since '64</sarcasm>

I had a set on my 81 Camaro and my brother had some on his 68 Camaro. They're cheap, shiny and get the job done ;)

me and johnny are the only ones who can appreciate this car for what it is... sad.

In the US catalytic converters weren't required for cars built before 75.

Yes Mickey Tompson makes valve covers, nice high rise ones to support your tall over ratio rocker arms. Many people prefer them, I've had a shitty set in the past.

It does look clean, I like how he flat black painted a bunch of the ----, but there is a lot of room to improve upon.

That cast iron intake manifold is a piece, that should be replaced with an aluminum one; the model depending on where he wants his RPM range set at, my ---- is all about the lower revs for towing/rock climbing. I can't tell for sure but I think he has a stock quadrajet carb hiding under there (unless he got a replacement ------ bore one that hides pretty low). That carb needs to go. I have the exact same air filter lid, Edelbrock 14" but that filter that comes with it is an absolute piece of ----. It lasted me about two weeks before I decided to throw it away and get the largest K&N filter made (it's either 14x6 or 14x8) which works out real well, have barely any flow restrections (makes tuning the edelbrock carb easy for that matter).

Just my .02 on the thing - yeah I'm domesticated

That motor is a complete piece of ----. I can't believe how many flaws that motor has and people are still using them in boats/cars. I think they should all be destroyed as they come in so we can have a nice happy ending to the 455 olds.

The car looks nice though. I think it would be alot better off with a 400.

ya he tore it down to the bare frame last sept and bolted on new brakes, suspension pieces, brakes lines (custom bent by himself), worked the framr so it's stronger, cleaned and painted it. The body is the next winter step as this is his daily driver in the summer.

It's got enough nuts to light em up when you punch it doin 60mph. easy 11 sec car. goin to the strip sometime this summer with it he said. His machinist is guessing around 600whp. but again, guesses are no good, track times will tell the story.

Not so. I can certainly appreciate it. I started off on old skewl domestics too. My brother had a 68 Camaro with a 427 from a 69 vette in it. It was bored .060 over It had a 12 bolt posi with a hurst 4 speed, 4.11 gears, trick flow heads, carter 900cc carb and a bunch of other cool ----. That is by far the fastest car I've ever been in. He could put it sideways in 3rd gear and lift the front 2 ft from a launch. I had an 81 Camaro with a 383 stroker in it back in 92-93. This was before you could easily get a stroker kit for a sbc 350 and had to have the journals on a 400 crank machined. It was definately a cool car for a 17 yr old, but insurance sucked ;) I still remember waiting by the mailbox on Saturday for my Hot Rod's and Car Craft's..

Nice man, I've always wanted a 383. Good to see there are more of us.
