Evo's are designed for off-road and road course (look at Tsukuba circuit, Evo's are the top dogs there) and not drag racing. When it comes to drag I know they suck, not even trying to defend that point. To even get anything faster than a high 11 out of them you have to be knocking way over the 500awhp mark, and even the one's from Buscher or AMS that are running in the 8's are making well over 1000hp. I've seen it first hand at the Nopi drag wars in Vermont 2 years ago, no one up there made it under a 12 flat. They aren't made for it. Cornering is a different story, most good setups on them can easily pull over 1g in corners.
For me the choice was easy...I live in a state that's covered in snow for almost 5 months out of the year, so it was either this or the even slower WRX. For the guy that lives somewhere where there is no snow at all, then it would only be a status symbol to buy an Evo.
I won't deny the validity of your claims Scott, but it's pretty pointless to either of us since we will never personally hit those marks.

as for the snow, yea its prob a good choice, but its not magic, it not like you're going to do any racing in the snow you'll just crash and die.

im sure you can get around better than a rwd v8 car, since i can barely drive mine in the rain... thats what 4x4 trucks are for

My $.02

In drag racing pushrod powered RWD v8s will always rule. No question.

I dont like the looks of the new viper, but 600hp will still move that heavy beast pretty quick.

Nothing sounds better than a turbo v8 at full throttle. Nothing.

Skyline GTR is heavy and underpowered. I look forward to eating it alive in my $1500 CRX.

Even porsche uses those stupid failure hose clamps. Apparently they are cheaper than wormgear. Get over it.

When I have money (read: many years from now) I will have a Notchback mustang with a stupid-huge turbo on it. Thanks.
