I don't really know much about subarus but couldnt someone with a WRX buy that and salvage a lot of parts(interior, engine, ect...) from it and turn their car into a ghetto STi?

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

I would put it on display in my front yard. I once saw a mercedes S55 AMG where the entire front end was smashed in all the way to the windshield. That's a $120,000 car and they were asking for $55,000 for the wreck

davcivic 08-31-2004 09:28 PM

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

Well I could do that, if someone wants to lend me the money, I'll put the parts on my WRX and then take pictures.

That is so sad :'( :'( :'(

I'm going to cry now :'( :'(

it is repairable, all you gotta do is weld on a new rear end. I've seen it done before, it'll look like new too. Feel bad for the people that buy it after though, thinking they got a mint car :-\

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

no way I'm going to pay 5100 for a wrecked car, I won't even pay that much for a car in good condition, I'm cheap bitches.

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

I watched a show about them doing that in the UK, they call it "cut and shut" these people would buy the car and have no idea it was actually 2 cars...you get the point

Thats why the brand is rebuild after you pass the structual inspection. back in the day youre right people used to do things like chop a car and weld another half on without measuring or anything, people would get killed because of poor workmanship, so now we have inspections and the car has to be within spec of .3mm, it varies from state to state country to country. some parts of europe there is still no government agency controlling what goes on. but i think that STI will make an awesome car for someone one day.

the person who wrecked it should be shot. im guessing it was a kid under 2o and was showing it off to his friends. its a brand new car.
heh, well its still ok cus you could take the moter and put it in an old ass subaru and make a sick sleeper out of it.

that's funny.. when i dropped my crx off at my uncles shop for work he had two chevy malibu's. 1 front end totalled, 1 rear end totalled, both completely stripped. He said the dealership was paying him to make 1 good car from it. then they resell it.

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

My bother-in-law buys cars like that and then rebuilds them to sell. That's how my 21 year old sister is driving a 2002 Linclon LS. It need a whole passenger side. The welded in a full b-piller, door sills and roof line. He does 2001-present Ford diesels all the time. The only problem for the sti rebuild would be finding that rear quartar unless and reqular wrx fits.

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

i wonder if someone died when that thing crashed. that whole in the windshield is making me thnk the passenger went straight through it.

Bullshit. Post before and aftr pics of that. Surely you would have taken pictures of this magnificent recontruction. :-\

That car will NEVER be the same, no matter what you do. It's fucked and cutting the ass end off another car and welding them together isn't going to make it "right".

boost, you're right, it doesn't make it right, but it looks right. There are a bunch of places along PCH that do this. Maybe I'll try to drive down there this weekend and snap some photos. It sucks but it's true

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

i dont understand it. why do parents buy fast ass cars that they know their kids are gonna race people in? they should buy them an older fast car ( like an 80's model rx7,s or a 300zx or something ) so they can atleast lkearn how to drive well befor they get an insanely fast car and kill themselves by flying around a corner and hitting something or someone. i dont get it. i remember i saw a 17 year old kid driving an sti and he had the negro/wigger steriotypical style of driving with the seat laid back so your back isnt supported. i felt like getting out of my car and kicking his ass. i didnt get a good car so i had to learn how to drive safely so that when i did have a fast car, i drove it safely.

Re:OMG...this couldnt have happened

nah, just get them a fast car and see if darwinism works

it happpens all the time boost, its called a half cut , you get half the car that is good, cut the part that is bad off the car you want to keep and weld it all back together, its not all that hard and is legal.

yea don't they have computers and ---- with "lasers" that measure all the points on the car when there fixing it.....i know i saw a X5 that had a very hard roll being fixed day by day at this shop in my town. The truck was completly stripped and being bondoed and welded - every day i drove by it actually started looking more like it was supposed to.....
