Ok tapping aluminum (tranny case) tips?
Alright i gotta retap the threads on my tranny case for the rear tranny mount near the diff... the bolts keep pulling out of it, the threads are really messed up, so instead of a 10mm 1.25 thread im gonna go 12mm 1.25 thread... Does anybody have tips on tapping out the tranny case so i dont mess it up?

Find a tap drill chart and drill it to the correct size for that tap. Its aluminum, so if the hole is a bit small (a few thousandths) it will be ok. use lots of oil, go one turn in then a half turn out, start the tap straight, thats all I can think of

Have you conisered the line of products by heli-coil (thread repair kits) I have seen them hold 25 pounds without a problem in a medium size.
There are a wide variety of binary form setting solutions available to you, thread sealers for the repair of the binding of the helicoil insert and the hole that has just been freshly chased with the tap. I wouldn't see the harm in throwing a thin layer of jb-weld or other epoxies of lateral strength when you perform the operation.
I would not recommend running out and buying a tap & die set just for one hole. Granted they are great to have around but the cheap sets suck ***, you get a name brand set and it will have the quality but the quantity of pieces will be low for a budget minded purchase.

Eventually I will get around to moving back out to the mountains and then I will have a place&time to frame-off a 911, until then I will keep searching for the right deal - hope I don't stray off and buy another crx to toy with.
