Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
So I get a new computer. It's a 700mhz "e-machine :l and it has XP professional on it. First problem, the god damn ethernet plug is there, but doesn't do a god damn thing. It lights up, but when I connect it, it doesn't do anything and the network still says it's unplugged. I get this error when I first start the computer that says:
WARNING ERROR Resource Conflict- PCI Network controller in slot 3 Bus:01, Device:0B, Function:00 Ok, slot 3 is where the netgear ethernet plug is. Why is there an error there? Should it not be in slot 3? I also have tried to use every god damn linksys driver that is available to the public and it will not ------- work with this other computer. Is it because it's XP pro? I have it working flawlessly on my computer with XP so what's the problem? I've tried to use the same god damn drivers I installed on my computer, but it will not ------- work. :S Any help? :-\ __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

Wow Boost, you got nothin but bad luck with computers it seems.
Uninstall the driver for the ethernet card and reinstall it, see what happens. |

At least XP is better than ME. Boost, you piss off the computer gods at some point? Run of bad luck sucks man... I'd just take it back to wherever you got it, or call geek squad...

Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
Boost dont uninstall anything yet. just try moving the card to another slot and see if that works. the error is saying that the resoucer that slot 3 has assigned to it are in use by some other component. so by moving th slot you will be using diff resources than slot 3 and it should work. i have had similar problems and almost always this fixed it for me.

This is the point where having a computer guy as a friend is useful.

Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
I am done with helping people for free this month, I have two laptop torn down to the motherboard because jackasses like to hit the power cord really hard when its plugged into the laptop ,causing it to break the power connector off the circuit board.

Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
You've got a resource conflict with two or more devices. You will have to go to the control panel, system, device manager, and then find the device that is conflicting with your network card. Disable that device or assign it a new IRQ (interrupt request value). That should take care of the problem.

Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
E-machines are serious junk... if you live near me i have a extra 1.3Ghz board and chip you could have for free w/ 512k ram and ATI video card :)
if it is an on board ethernet adapter then you should be using that, use the correct drivers for it from the manufactures website.. letting xp decide what to use is not going to help you any. if you have a add on ethernet card disable the on board from the bios (basic input output settings, press del or f2 on startup). if all else fails craigslist always has pretty good deals.. |
Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
Did you try my suggestion? ???

Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
The computer geek is trying to say I fucked it up and changed ---- around. ::) He's about to get an e-machine shoved up his ass. If the stupid cock sucker would have tested the god damn thing before he gave it to me we wouldn't have this problem. It's obvious he didn't test it because the ethernet hardware wasn't installed until I turned it on and let it detect it. :7

Re: Ok seriously, it's not funny anymore
Hey wow, looky there. I'm on the internet with the e-machine on both an ethernet connection and a wireless connection. The ethernet worked as soon as I plugged it in and the wireless adapter installed instantly when I plugged it in. Imagine that. :3
Problem solved. I hate computers. __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
