The distributor only goes on one way. If you look at the shaft, the slot is offset to one side. So timing cannot be off 180.

I thought it could be off if you didnt line the "dots" on the cam to the ones on the crank, correct me if im wrong

initally wheni put the a6 head on there w/ the z6 stuff it seemed loose; then when i looked closer it almost was like the head needed to move a smige more to get the notch on the cam gear to line up with the pointer.

I guess i'm just going to wait for the timing belt cover to get in and my new distributor to see.

also where should the ignition timing be at while cranking? i've moved it from way before TDC to way after but it didnt seem like anything was right.
