OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
I was just going to tack it together and have a friend weld it off b/c he's a whole lot better at welding than I am, but I wouldn't get the satisfaction of doing it my self, so I did it, looks crappy, but I know the welds are strong. I havn't welded the turbo flange on yet b/c I haven't mounted it to test fit it, but that's coming in a few weeks. getting close, I'm excited!! ;D

Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
cool man, looks real good. how much experience did you have welding? my boy wants me to weld him a mani for his 240, i told him not to expect anything beautiful, now i can give him something to expect cause that's prolly how mine will look to ;)

Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
Well, lets say you can coun't how many times I've welded with my two hands :)
|
Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
that flange is lookin pret...wait its not that there...you should jbweld that turbo on there...true hmt style :)
|
Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
looks pretty good.
good job! where'd you get the flange? |
Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
I got the head flange from BMC racing and I had a local machine shop make my t25 flange.
|
Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
where'd you get the weld els from?
|
Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
that looks good.. two questions though.
1. what type of pipe did you use? 2. i think you welded too much.. wheres the turbo go? ;) Looks good though, I'd hit that :) |
Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
I bought the weld els from a plumbing store, $34, and they are 40 schedule steel 1 1/2" thick. I havn't welded the turbo flange on yet b/c I want to put it on my engine so I know exactly what angle and and position to put it, I"m keeping my a/c,thats why I made it in the first place.

Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
Yes, 1 1/2 diameter, ment to say that.. I think powdercoating will melt under the heat. I had a shifter that was powdercoated and I did some welding on it, and it melted it all around where I welded it, and the manifold is gonna get a whole lot hotter than that. It's going on my 93 civic coupe.

hey pa2play i commend you on your work. Nice job. If you want ill send blast it for you, just ship it my way and pay for shipping back. Gj

Re:OK OK PICS up of my manifold I started making.
Actually I have a sand blaster, thanks for the offer. I know the welds are strong b/c I turned the heat up on that 220 welder and just soaked that weld in the crack a really long time ;D just to make sure....then I hit it with a hammer a few times. :)
